B42 Metal pipe. Can't metal pipes be made?
Actually, that's the question. I did not find an opportunity to bind a metal pipe, a metal rod and a wire. Are they really impossible to make, or did I have a bad look at the crafting menu?
I decided to make a chicken coop with large wire walls. You need a lot of pipes and wire. Disassembling cars is, of course, the best way. But there's a blacksmith shop...

Pretty sure you can weld shorter bars together to make the full iron/steel bar. But I haven't messed around with welding and blacksmithing for a while so I could be wrong.

Also, pipes are different from bars iirc, so I guess there's that too.

Nope the cannot be crafted, has been like that for a long while.
Your best bet to aquire them en mass is to dismantle burned wrecked cars, elsewise loot or forage for them:S

No, you can't make Iron Pipes with anything. You can get them from looting warehouses or welding disassembly. Same with Scrap Metal, minus the looting warehouses part. If that sounds stupid, you are 100% correct. It is. I'm afraid it gets worse. Scroll through the welding build menu and look at the requirements. Almost every single welding recipe needs Welding Rods. They can't be made. They can't be acquired from welding disassembly. Foraging for them in trash is 1/10000 odds at best. When they're gone, they're GONE. Just like propane.

Bitter sarcasm aside, be very sparing with your welding materials when it comes to building things. Only carpentry is actually fleshed out to the point of actual sustainability.
