Who sleeps for 9 hours in a zombie apocalypse?
I think you should make sleeping time adjustable. Would ease up so much and ADD realism.

I was expecting 7-8 hours and for those who are a secruity guard I thought gun shots would wake my guy up but nope.
also as a man and in my 30s and hardly ever sleep longer then 5-6 hours a night. From what I read online on medical sites this is totally normal as our bodys once stopped growing require less and less sleep, but more often. Its why older people tend to nap more.

he sleeps based on how long you were awake, if you let your sleep guage go red he sleeps for 12h.

Goto sleep when it pops up he sleeps 8h, seems pretty realistic to me.

y i think the actuall system its very realistic, you sleep more depending on how tired are u, if u are 30 hours without sleep or if u spend the day cutting trees like all the *** day obviusly if u can u will sleep a lot =P. Another thing is that u can go to sleep having zombies in ur room lol

idk... If I were in a zombie apocalypse, and knew there was nothing to wake up to then I'd be a little slow to rise too...

I think alarm clocks should be added. You can set the time you want to wake up but with negative effects if you wake up too early. Like awareness reduced since you had so little sleep. But if you had more than enough sleep, you might have extra strength.
Well fact of the matter is any more then 9 hours sleep a day will take years off your life, its quite un-healthy. Just saying.

I once slept through a tornado, I bet I could sleep through a zombie invasion.

Even if I go to bed super tired, I can get up after 5 hours of sleep. Doesn't have that much of a consequence on my level of tiredness too. Also, yeah, alarm clocks ftw. Plus being surrounded by zombies makes you sleep lighter. It's in our genes... we never could've survived in the wilderness without this trait.
Fun game though!

It isn't how long he sleeps, dead tired sleeping 10 hours, ok, happened to me once.

It's how fast your toon gets tired. You walk down a street, whack a few zeds and boop, drowsy. Time flows too fast in this game, it is the old "sim takes an hour to brush their teeth" problem. Time should flow slower, the 2 hours days would be a nice default (yes, you can change it in sandbox, but 2h should be default even in survival imo)

Sleep 8 hours when i'm a little tired? What world are you living in where that is realistic? I'm lucky to get 4 hours a night and it's not the zombie apocalypse, I try for six to eight hours when I'm actually tired and need to get things done, and if I can get away with it I get eight to ten and sleep in on a "weekened" to help me feel a bit more rested.

If we were in the zombie apocalypse lets be realistic . . . I'm not "sleeping, I'm napping a lot. Short naps in safe areas to keep me from getting tired, and doing everything possible to keep myself from falling into a dangerous deep sleep while alone and unguarded. I might go back to 4-8 hour sleep periods if I had another survivor or two to watch my back, but then I'd be scheduling them in watches to keep guard against any "surprises". I certainly wouldn't be doing it while out and about foraging.

Of course I understand that isn't everyone's realistic; that's why I agree with the opening poster when he says that we should be able to set our sleep schedule manually.

How much sleep you get should be a strategic decision. Getting a long period of good rest and surviving it should give some short term bonus' for "well rested", while a few shorter periods of rest should merely get rid of the penalty for not getting rest at all. A lot of short periods of rest could give you a minor bonus for being rested, but not well rested.

Of course getting those long periods of rest should be something you only do in very safe spots, or with someone to watch your back because zombies, animals, enemy survivors, and random events should all be things I'm worrying about, especially as time passes and buildings start to decay and/or become more dangerous to be in. There also should be a chance of insomnia, or being woke up after short periods due to "nerves" if your realy anxious or terrified.

just a quick FYI Last night I slept a good 10 hours with a cat in the house, there's not much more dangerous than that.

We already talking about sleeping with the team, we gonna change the system, bonus for good sleep, malus/insomnia for short night, if you sleep with some pain you'll wake up angry and still tired, wake up during night because of nightmare, etc... Oh, and also a digital watch and set up alarm to wake up when you want... ;)
Dutch 11. des. 2013 kl. 13.40
A digital watch is a nice touch, the timer in the corner could 'upgrade' or appear once you get a watch? That'd be nice to at first not know the time. An outright alarm would be kinda stupid, as it causes sound. At least it'll give your safehouse the anti-zombie test it needs.

Is there a chance of adding a map with fog of war? Once you find one of course.
