crawlers
something has to be done about them or I will not play this game any more. not only are they overpowered but you can create crawlers by not killing a zombie with one hit. Then when there is more than one zombie attacking you it is impossible to even attack the crawler zombie, so it just get's to freely attack you and you can't do anything about it. I die 75 percent of the time to crawlers and it's getting really annoying.

If you get behind them or to their side, they have to turn to hit you, and they turn super slowly. If you're in a situation where you can't move around them, I'd suggest cutting your losses and leaving or finding another way.

On the rare occasion when I get in to a shoving match with a zombie, I've turned and ran without getting hurt. Just wait until they're staggering backwards, and you should be able to get away.

Also, instead of trying to clear out a horde, you could just shout at them and herd them somewhere else. Then break their line of sight so they forget about you; then you can circle back.

I know how it's done. but when you've already engaged and your shoving about 3 or 4 zombies at a time there is no escape time, it's a constant shove battle.

and even though there is a small amount of escape time even if your getting attacked by 10 at a time, it will take some time, and if there is a crawler you might not have it.

it's just stupid that the crawlers can attack when i'm shoving because the walking zombies can't. it's like i hit a zombie in the skull, and now it can only crawl, but yet it's 10 times more powerful.

Whenever I turn a regular zombie in to a crawler, I just assume it's because of the panic accuracy reduction; I miss and hit them in the legs or something.

which is fine. but that would make them weaker, not impossibly strong.

if there is a crowd of zombies attacking me a crawler zombie would get trampled by the other zombies and would be able to attack me in the first place.

then again i probably wouldn't be able to just block for an eternity as long as i had a two handed weapon.

sucks when you run all the way from mudraugh and then a crawler takes you out like that. I made a backup save because this is a new build, but still I like to play legit. I'm gonna go ahead and play on just because I consider crawlers to be a bit bull crap right now.

Like I put in an earlier post, I think the Dev Team did an admirable job of getting me as the gamer to see things from the perpsective of this happening to me. If that's the case, you may need to alter how you go about "hunting" or "clearing out" hoards. It's a survival game and not a zombie killing game. If there's 10+ zeds with a crawler or two or even just a few zeds with a crawler, in RL you probably wouldn't take the chance on it. You'd probably wait a couple days and they'd have been distracted by something else or at least spaced themselves out differently. Just because you can kill a ton of zeds at once doesn't mean you should. I do agree that the crawlers need to be tweaked but again in RL if you were in a shoving match with a hoard and there's a crawler on the floor, you're probably so "bugged out" that you can't see everything.

The only problem i have with crawlers is that you have to be close enough to aim down to hit them even at range form a distance you wont hit them
CrazyJesse Dec 7, 2013 @ 10:49am
they're overpowered. maybe if when they hit you they only cause slight damage. or they can't bite you while blocking seems reasonable.

you're not rambo

if you want to run-and-gun, then you're in the wrong game
CrazyJesse Dec 7, 2013 @ 10:58am
I am rambo, and i'm wasn't running and gunning, I had a little overflow into my base and wanted to clean them out.

sorry but crawlers are the easiest zeds in the game, if you have a pack on you easy to string off easy to spot (no blood pool) and super easy to kill (usually one hit).

I think your positioning is all wrong, come in alreay pulled back and hit it from the side if possible, in about 20h I have literally never been scratched or bit by a crawler.

It's realism, to be truthful, trampling on the zombie wouldn't work to much, considering the horde of 10 in question, due to the zombies lighter tred and weakened muscle system, wouldn't cause much damage, if you're busy shoving 10 zombies, you won't have time to block a crawler..... it isn't OP, just realism.
Devlynx Dec 7, 2013 @ 11:12am
Plus the "I am Rambo" attitude is precisely why you died easier, you don't take the approach of that, you die fast.
nsK Dec 7, 2013 @ 11:28am
If you're shoving 3 or 4 zombies away you are supposed to have trouble.

Personally, I haven't had much trouble with crawlers. They are slow and can't turn around really fast, which you can use to your advantage. You shouldn't approach more than 2 zombies directly, anyways.
