STALKER has a story yes, but the zone has a life of its own, especially with the misery mod... thats emergent gameplay to me.

As for the OP DayZ is a poor 3d attempt at Zomboid more then anything IMHO. Anyone bother to do research to see which came first?

Ah, I see.
Heheh, Didn't know Zomboid came first. That's pretty awesome.
DayZ came after Project Zomboid. So no, Project Zomboid is not a 2D rip-off of DayZ. They are two different games. Really, the only major similarity there is between the two is the subject of zombie survival.

i this a 2d rip off of a real thread?
My god you cannot be this dense.
The OP has asked a legitmate question, please don't refer to name calling and non-lovliness.

To be fair, asking if something is a ripoff and then not providing anything else as to why you ask that question comes across as nothing else other than insulting, at least to me. But I decided to give the benefit of the doubt, as I used to have similar impressions.
a little bit
Zombie Survival so we automatically assume that it's a rip off of the most popular one?

Agreed. Relatively pointless thread (and i'm not only saying this because i hate DayZ, more power to those who like it :gaper: )

No, like State of Decay it's a surprisingly different game playing on the same genre, although whereas State of Decay abandoned individual survival in favor of community management, Zomboid focuses on Sandbox-esque gameplay with a wealth of features and a huge amount of depth not seen in the genre before.
... More or less, it's closer to Sims with zombies. XD But oh, so much more than that.

State of Decay...Community Management.

I have been on Breakdown until the PZ patch comes out...it seems like NO ONE manages their community.

Board is full of nothing but "I completely ignore my people's moods / I didnt know having a bunch of piss-ed off or paralyzed people had an effect on the game"...

Rocket has even stated he LOVES this game and playes it all the time. He also admitted to being inspired on a lot of implementations from PZ to DayZ.
Well they seem to implement some good stuff from PZ in DayZ now, that is a good development I enjoy both games very much. I think the DayZ stand alone is going to be very good, for some weird reason I enjoyed the idea of after 3 days of scaveging, another player snipes you from 500m just for fun, and isn''t even bothered to loot your corpse. PZ is more of building a fort, its like simfarm, but much better, and because its ironman everything can be over very sudden, no reloads. Just try it its not expensive. Im also looking very much foreward to another Indie game called Deadstate, maybe youll like that one too.
nuclear wtf are you talking I cant figure out if your a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ troll or have a grudge against dayz but as i play both, this is a game with similar elements to dayz but a simpler graphical system which adds quite a feel to it that separates the game from its peer's even though there are few that reach its options within the game mechanics. a worthy purchase in the end.

There were more survivorlike games way before DayZ. S.T.A.L.K.E.R is definately one of those. DayZ messed up big time. So I don't call that a survivalgame. Just getting shot to death, and trying to evade buggy zombies attempting to scrounge food, there's no survival to it.
But STALKER didn't focus on zombies and "emergent" storytelling gameplay, did it? I think it focused on completing stories.
it doesnt matter if a game focusses on Zombies, you can replace the models of the zombies by any one you want. Just put in wild animals. Those games arent about zombies, or soldiers, or animals, or aliens. Those are just obstacles giving you some spice for the real meal. The real meal in those games is the survival aspect, such as searching for food, shelter and water, getting some support (medics), build defenses and think about the future (like in Zomboid water supply suffers later on, or food gets rotten). Also in PZ you dont focus that much on the Zombies, they are just there to spice it up, the most important is to secure your supply and stuff to stay alive, the Zombies then just act as the "keepers" you have to pass to get it, same for DayZ. The Zeds arent the real main danger or your real main target, because it doesnt help you to kill many of them but suffer due to no food or water. You can be the best Zed Killer but die due to starvation.
So also on DayZ the main aspect is the survival, and so is it in PZ and there were other games before DayZ doing it, maybe even better.

STALKER was one of those first games doing such stuff and in a much better way than DayZ. Not saying DayZ isnt a cool idea or well made, i love Zombiegames even more Games like DayZ or PZ i really do, but comparing Survival Games to DayZ just because of the Zeds is kind of wrong.
