NPCs used to be in, and will be back in, once they have worked on them again. They broke them a while back, iirc, and took them out. Which is the reason the Tutorial is nolonger available right now. The tutorial used to be you caring for your girlfriend that has been bit (or hurt), and you have to get some stuff for her, while she is laying in bed.
If you look at the big PZ map, you find leftovers of that. Like the POI marker on the <spoiler> where it said "all those firedrills paid off". There are several places that have NPC survivors when the NPCs are back in.
Would you rather get a little bored knowing where everything is, or extremely frustrated not knowing where anything is?
that's part of the game ♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's a survival game
You realize they do make maps in real life, right? Maps are pretty easy to get, it isn't unrealistic in a survival scenario. When NPCs and vast other features are re-added, it won't matter if you know where everything is. It's gonna be action-packed and unpredictable.
"oh yeah this is going to be my first playthrough I'd better check the best places to get relevant lot and the perfect place to build a fortress before i begin, obviously i am not ruining my game this way"
Maps will be in the game eventually - if he wants to look at a map online in the meantime, let him.
Open Inside
Because my character is living in that city and unless they introduced an Amnesia perk, my char would have a rough idea of where the Stores are, where industry centers are and where the trailer park is located.
And since the map is always the same, playing it more than once, will eventually teach you the map anyway.
So yeah, if you want to go hardcore, go hardcore and don't look at a map. However i assume my char hasn't been drugged and blindfolded, thrown out in the middle of a city he never visited for laughs and giggles and as result actually has a pretty good idea of what is where.
Just because you are a troll who has a hard time having fun doesnt mean the same for him.
What difference does it honestly make to you if I choose to play under the guidance of a map? FFS. If one is available, why the hell shouldn't I use it?
Just ignore him. Opinions. Play the game how you want :)
