My reply just pointed out another common way that you can get sick, and die, in the game. A lot of new users aren't aware of this, so thought I'd mention it in case it might have caused the issue you posted about...

So, do you mean this happened on a new game, and you hadn't even left the "safe-house" you spawned in? How long did it take for this to happen? (in game hours, days). Sounds a little strange.

As far as getting sick, dying etc - like I said, it IS possible to get sick, and die, even if you haven't been bitten or scratched, if you eat something that hasn't been cooked, eg: tv dinner, raw meat like chicken/salmon, uncooked eggs...

Looks like you ate something raw. Like raw chicken, salmon etc. => you get sick, you die.

Cook the food in the oven first!

I ran the demo and this happened to me also.

Didn't eat or drink anything, as soon as I started, my character immediately has "Pain" then "Agony" and "Sickness" and then death within a day. Didn't even leave the house.

Also noticed the status icons mouse detection was a bit off (about one and a half icons below where they were supposed to be). Played in window mode (even though it said Fullscreen).

The demo starts with your character saying that she was bitten. i.e. if you play the demo you are doomed to die no matter what you do.

Guys , it would be alot easier if you would READ ! In the demo you start with a bite , so you can only survive for about 15 mins ! The demo should show some core elements and if the game works correctly on your PC, shows bugs that can occur and if you are okay with that! The demo is not supposed to give you hours and hours of fun, thats the main game. And no, this is absolutly not unfair , most other games these days doesnt even give you a demo.
@ Subara And if this was your problem , yes I think your stupid. This is mentioned in the demo text.
