Can I Copy Single player Map to Multiplayer Server Map?
I'm curious if I can "build up a map" in single player using NecroForge, and then copy the map file to multiplayer files somewhere and use that as my starter map?

Basically I'd like to Build up a nice HQ with supplies without touching the surroundings or looting by using the NecroForge Mod. Then if possible, copy that worldmap file to where ever I need to put it in the Mutiplayer file.

I enjoy the co-op a lot. But I get tired of trying to back up my saves, starting over with new people and basically doing the first few weeksoverand over. I'd like a nice place to head to, and if friends join I can hand over some gear and we can head off into the world. I'm just tired of starting from scratch all the time. I love the update rate, but I'm just wondering if there's an easier way to get a Co-op World going faster, for ease.

So can I copy Single Player Maps over to Multiplayer file for use, and replace the default one?
Also without changing any of the world settings from the default as this seems to cause issues with connecting for Co-op.

If so, can you provide details and the directories needed for proper save/replacing, thank you.

Thanks for any help. I'd really like to be able to open up a map to others, help them get a start and wander around together. More casual than time intensive.

I wondered this as well, though I've yet to test it out but I assume you'd just copy your map files across from Zomboid/whatevermode/yourgame to /multiplayer/servertest. Survival files have zombie, metadata, etc files as well that may be needed but don't have a place to be used... Far less map files too, it appears. I won't pretend to know anything at all about how it works, but I think maybe SP generates the map files strictly procedurally where MP wouldn't? I'll give it a shot and see if it works.

Yeah I have fooled around with setting custom server settings for Singleplayer which is nice to create the map style you like. But even though I firgured out how to create custom settings for my MP file it doesn't seem to work for others to join. Even tried sending a copy of the world map for MP with new settings to a friend so we would both load into the world with the same MP map settings but it was no good.

I REALLY like this game, but man am I looking forward to some easier MP map settings control.
I hope they get to it soon.

Seems copying all map files and the map_meta.bin and map_t.bin from SP to MP is compatible at least; that is to say I got into the server and could do stuff. I didn't get to anywhere I'd been in SP so if I can, I'll keep playing and test with multiple people online to update.

Sorry I didn't see that reply; you're trying to change settings or still hoping to import built up maps?

Both, lol. It a bit of an old post. I forgot about it. Now it's been "necrobumped".

Either/Or. Either a built up map, possibly using NecroForge in Singleplayer, then copy for MP. Or using custom settings on a MP map. But so far my expirence when people could join in was only using default map settings for MP.

I actually haven't played in a while, because I get tired of all the extra effort to just get some comfortable settings and play with friends now and then. But as I said here and many other places, I REALLY hope for the best of this game. Some of the coming features and ideas really seem awesome. And once you settle into a long play it's quite fun and I enjoy the mellow survival intensity. I like the dark nights as you watch a horde drift by in the dark or a few bangers on the outside walls.

The settings thing is no fun sometimes, I myself wasn't able to play the game at all for quite some time and I'm not very familiar anymore. If I knew the layout of the world better I'd say definitively how much of the world transfers in terms of loot or structures.

I spawned into an SP save I copied into my server as an admin I had already running on the previous serverstate and that character worked fine, so pasting other characters in might work as well. As far as I know, your friends should be able to create and store the save locally, and your server will create temp files. Assuming they can join!

I've had the best experiences using Evolve, which lets me connect via LAN type thing to friends. It's free, you just install it and add your friends to a party. It'll assign local IP's, they connect to yours.

The game is pretty fun as it is, but in my experience even getting an online session working can sometimes have pitfalls like inexplicably lost saves, inventory bugs that require a wipe, etc but that's again in my (in)experience. I'm happy having separate games on SP and MP with different characters and worlds but the MP character saves aren't working well for me.

At the moment, I abuse my admin powers to spawn crap, build up a basic base, and see how well I fare against a big spawned horde.

A side note on settings, I've found it finnicky to change settings from anywhere but the game's servertest.ini file. Doing stuff in console and in-game as admin seems to never like my spelling or something. I had problems as well, and narrowed the one setting I wanted to change down to it stopping time when nobody is in to prevent everything from rotting.

Sorry for necrobumping you out, Merry Christmas!

TL;DR Just copy any files you have in your SP save into your MP world's folder. If you don't wanna walk or screw with character importing which I haven't tried, get your character to where you wanna be before importing and loading the save.

is it your server? I mean do you have the save files for the map files. If so I think you can just copy your map tiles there.

Lol, I was just checking back on PZ to see if it's gotten a little easier to handle with this type of stuff and Co-op, since I haven't been playing much on Steam in a long time. But looks like not much has changed if things like this are still an issue?
Sorry I can't help more atm, it's been a VERY long time since I've played.
