Personal preference, I suppose.

Everyone loves a bookshelf!

i was just wondering if they disappear or maybe get damaged or something? So nothing will happen to items that i leave on the floor?

you can store only 50 on the floor ( I think it should be morebut well ) , and you need more space, with 3 crates on above the other you can store 150 on one tile and 50+50(on the floor ) with shelves.

You can store more on one square of ground, you just have to face away from the stuff already there and it says 0/50 and you can drop things.

u can also build a container on a tile which has 50/50 allready, if u destroy the container afterwards, the items are in the same spot, but it probably will cause problems if u stack to many items in one spot´.

Why do you need to live anyways? We all die at the end, so why not just kill yourself right now.

Not trying to be rude or anything, but that's kinda stupid obvious answer for an obvious question. Shelves and crates pack up more stuff if placed on eachother, also you can sort stuff in them to access some items more quickly if you need it, besides of not having a mess under your feet.
You can store them where ever the f you want, as Gonzo said:
