Can cracks from erosion be repaired?
My safehouse is a suburban house in Muldraugh. I've only been in the game about a month and already there are several cracks in the walls. While I like the erosion effects normally, these cracks are obstructing my view of the kitchen. Is there anyway to repair them? I noticed I could cut down the vines on my fences with an axe, but haven't figured out if it's possible to repair the cracks. Thanks!

Edit: Spelling

I wondered that too...thought maybe the bag of plaster or concrete could be used to repair... or paint if its just a cosmetic crack.

maybe it's coming in a later build.

I build new wall and plaster it, but to next day it was already cracked :rshocked::rfacepalm:

The one element of the game that's completely unrealistic. Houses would not start cracking from Vines within a year of society falling apart that's absolutely laughable.

Clearly the devs don't know anything about Construction in real life.

I've even built forts in the wood that have lasted over a year so I don't see how a house just starts cracking after one year of no maintenance. I mean people live in their houses today and don't really maintain them at all much. maybe they paint them and reroof them every 20 years but that's about it.

In any case unless there was an earthquake there is no way a house is getting a crack in it within that short amount of time.

In sandbox, you can decrease the affects of plants and weathering.

The reason why it 'cracks' so soon, and trees grow in record time, is because the default settings are set very high, so that people could actually 'see' the effects. Since most new people have difficulty surviving one week. At least, that is what the dev's said for why it happens so fast.

may not be realistic, but it is cool to have the visual of the map changing with time.

While it's not reaslitic I think it's fine too. If it was realistic it would be a pointless game mechanic. You would never survive long enough to see any erosion. I like how the game world changes little by little and starts to get overgrown. It really gives that feeling that your world is ending but life goes on without you. It's realistic in the sense that nature would eventually reclaim the planet.

Erosion's another pointless game mechanic added in place of anything of importance.
It's well done, definitely, but it's badly implemented, and really is of no significance.

I don't know about newly built plaster walls but wood walls dont erode.

yah, my last character survived for two months and the driveway for his safehouse was almost a forest by the time he died.

The trick to stop the erosion, cracks, and wild life growth around your safe houses:

Grab a sack ,a shovel, planks, nails and a hammer.

For walls:
Take the gravel/sand/dirt and place it in the sack. Place wooden floorboard to where you took it. Pour back the dirt/gravel/sand. -> no erosion to the wall, no cracks.

For stopping wildlife growth:
Take the gravel/sand/dirt and place it in the sack. Place wooden floorboard to where you took it. Pour back the dirt/gravel/sand. -> no erosion to the wall.

Only issue is that it will consider this civilization so your trapping area may be affected, and that you may not be able to forage anymore.

Wow, apparently people don't know how to customize the game to their own liking. After all this time, HOW? Probably the same people I deal with for work on the phones, crying because they can't figure out how to take a picture with their camera.
