Log walls or wooden wall?
I was wondering (and couldn't find an answer): What's better, log walls or wooden walls?

That depends on how many nails you have. If you have the nails to spare, wooden walls can be made more quickly and because you have to saw the planks, you level up your carpentry more than you do with the log walls. However, if you don't have too many nails, log walls can be made by logs and ripped sheets, which are easy to get, I also think that log walls are stronger and can withstand more hits. Hope this gives you some more info on the walls!

I go with log walls for looks xD plus it gives more use to all those zombies with clothes since you can rip them in to ripped sheets.

I go with Wooden Walls since, as Cheesenip30 mentioned, your Carpentry skill goes up pretty quickly (books help considerably) when you're making them.

put wood walls around safe house and 2 log walls around that lol skill ups and strong walls.build a staircase on the inside of the wall and sheet rope to outside of wall thus eliminating the weakness of a door

Thanks for your answers! To be honest, I play a very easy sandbox game (abundant loot, no transmission etc.), so I've got thousands of nails. I think the log walls simply look better though I would put survival first and aesthetics second.

yeah i build the wood walls soley for the max carpentry so i can build rain barrels but sawing logs does skill up pretty well so its pretty much depends on what materials you have or look you want cause lets be honest if you got zombies beating on the wall and you cant kill them all you pretty much gotta lure them away cause they wreck any base pretty fast.

I made a graph a few weeks ago based on the formulas I found from various places online. According to what I found, this is how the two compare based on carpentry level:

If you want to boost your carpentry, I suggest going into the woods and just chopping and sawing the hell out of everything, preferably after reading a book.
Log Walls are the best for the outer wall line and the plank walls are great for the inner line.

The lower carpentry levels dont provide a propper health to the walls anyway, but just building plank walls to level, is a waste of nails and time, try to biuld the log walls first, then later when you reached a good level start the plank ones.

Anthony... are you seriously telling me that log walls and regular walls have the same HP level.. and carpentry 4...

No wonder they never felt that great, they are only great at low carpentry levels when you might not yet have many nails.

Sorry to say but this isnt correct, log walls have always more health then plank walls, iirc log walls gain +100 np for each carpentry level you have.

It's entirely possible that I am incorrect, but it's the best info I could find. I will say though that the sources seem pretty valid, that guy looked at the code itself.
