And yes this is by design.
Stone axex aren't meant to hold forever.
There is also the maintenance skill now which helps keeping it up for longer.
Other than that, the stone axe is really meant more as a weapon and for chopping down up to 3 trees.
What I mean is, yup, it's gonna broke easily, it's intended, we don't want the player to feel like "oh, stone axe, no need to look for an axe !", it's a temporary solution.
You can also chop down trees with it and build log wall, which doesn't need saw ;)
Edit : NINJA'D ?! *throw shuriken, disapear in a smoke screen*
At least, doors where I live is not anywhere near as resilient as a regular tree, but of course, its possible that the doors in PZ are made of ironwood or something similar ;)
Also, there is a randomizer in it too - I had an axe break down only half a tree once too ;).
I think the chance for it to loose durability is 20%
You could only do that from inside a house though since hinges are usually not on the outside ;)
If it looks like wood and behaves like wood, then it is, for all intents and purposes, wood.
It really makes no sense arguing that a door is not wooden, if it has all the properties and behaviour of a wooden door.
It might be coded that way, but that makes no sense at all.
Hell, my apartment door is metal, too. Just painted with a finish that looks like wood.
