Boiling water
So I've just looked at the recent changes and apparently now rainwater is tainted, which means that I have to boil water from rain collector barrels.

How do I boil water without using a stove? Do I have to set up a campfire?

I would think so. Just fill a pot with water and place it on the camp fire.

I just noticed the tainted water....So can i take water from outside barrel, boil it,and put in a barrel inside the house ?

This would allow stock piling water, and inside to boot

Straight from the PZ Wiki

"As of Build 31, water collected from rivers or from rain-collector barrels is now marked as 'tainted', giving it the chance to make your character sick should you wish to consume it. In order to purify the water, the player must boil it in a kettle or cooking pot until the 'tainted water' icon (depicted by a green skull) disappears."

@Tempest I think that would work

@Satomi thanks!

I fill all the pots and kettles, and leave the fresh water in them. I have hauled a lot of them home.

I did not know you could empty a filled container back into a rain barrel. I don't remember seeing an option to do that.

I just tried it,you cant :)

We could really use a large storage option for good water...you cant fill the sink, the tub, or the barrels.

So, due to a finite supply of campfire fuel, it's basically impossible to survive forever if you aren't next to a well?

Trees regrow. Besides, its unlikely that you would ever cut all those forests down that are on the map.

I had 'heard' that the wells had a finite supply of fresh water in them, but I am not sure.

Did NOT know that trees regrow! That is a HUGE help! Thanks!!

If you play long enough (at least 9 months depending on your weathering settings) you will start seeing small trees growing all over the place. Same with bushes.

It would be impossible to cut down all the trees in this game, there has to be at least 100,000 of them. Just look at the map. 3/4 of it is trees.

Not to mention all of the lumber at the lumber yard. Perfect place to call home. All of the wood you need inside a fenced off area. Not to mention out of the way from housing. Just gotta grab two hiking bags and make runs into the city.

So wells are still clean water though? I agree we need a storage for clean water after we purify it though, whether its filling bathtubs or some alternate rain catcher.

A 55-gallon water drum would work. Haul it home empty, set it in place, then start filling it with clean water. I could spend a couple days boiling water to fill it. ;)
