Now its possible that not all scratches are 'equal' and that it was just coincidence that one bled more than the other. Thats why I said 'I think'.
Once it stops bleeding it should stop dirtying the bandage, yes. I'd be careful, though. If your character starts to show signs of illness, like nausea, and especially fever, you may want to keep some bleach handy, because that means he's going to become a zombie. (You'll know when it happens, because your status will be "ZOMBIFIED!" your health will slowly drain, and your character will start making zombie noises, until eventually they run out of health and die.
My last character that got infected was moaning similarly to a zombie, while walking around in the "ZOMBIFIED!" state. Mind you, that's at the point where their health is very quickly draining, so they may not have time for the sound to play, because they're too busy downing bleach. :P
