Rain, when being wet isn't a good thing....
Been playing for awhile now and we all know to fear the rain. But does it really make you sick? I've hidden from the rain, I've ignored the rain. I've noticed no difference. I'm sure it's always just a chance of getting sick and I may just have been lucky up until now.

Logic also tells me that when yer injured, the risk would rise. So I haven't pressed my luck with an injured dude.

Thoughts? Observations?

Well, at one point while clearing out a horde it started raining, i gnored it thinking "Ah only a few minutes, ill be fine, by the time i was done clearing out the zeds, my person was soaked through and caught a cold and started sneezing, drawing more zeds to my safehouse, so it is to be avoided as you have to eat alot of food to fight off the cold

So, I've just been lucky. Hehe. Glad to know that there really is a possiblity of getting sick. Beware the RAIN!

With this are you playing on a multiplayer server by chance or is this strictly singleplayer mode that you are noticing that you are not getting sick from the rain?

If its the former it could be that the server you have joined have disabled getting colds - I noticed on the server I currently play on I think has colds disabled since even when in the rain with that prone to illness trait, I have not been sick yet.

These observations are from both solo and multiplayer. I'm putting it down to luck.

Do you remember what time of the year it was ? Do you think there's more chance to catch a cold during winter, or could it be the same all throughout the year ?
^I'ts the same throughout all year. You justr have to be completely drenched for a good while to have a high chance of getting sick. It's still a random number and doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. I've only had it happen once or twice though. But I stay out of the rain when I start to get a little wet.

Usually i do too, but this was on a rp server and i was security for a small outpost, they spotted this horde and sent me and one other person [who was torn to pieces after a few moments of fighting] to clear em out, i caught a cold but was unhurt

Haha! The bf was playing last night. Went on a exploration mission, but left unprepared. It rained, he got sick! It happened!! It was early August, and didn't take long for his sorry arse to get sick. I found it hilarious, watching him limp home. Glad to see it happen with my own eyes. Sometimes, ya just need that reality. The adventure contunues!

That's why I posted in the suggestion forums an idea for usable raincoats and umbrellas. ;-)

What's odd is that unless it's really cold outside, realistically you shouldn't have a chance of getting sick, even if you get absolutely soaked, any more than if you were dry. Being wet or staying in water doesn't magically make the human body sick, otherwise anyone that swims often would be sick almost all the time. Really hoping the devs fix that, and make it so that you'll only catch a cold if you stay out in the rain for a good while in a cold environment.

Hey do wet towls dry out eventually?? how long does it take? Also shouldn't I be able to turn on a stove to help with being cold?
^Turn on a stove for too long and you'll start a fire. =) And heat doesn't work that way I don't think in the game yet.

And wet towels never dry.
