Why is B42 so Blurry?
I've been playing some of the unstable build recently, and I've been switching back and forth from B41 and B42 for MP. Something that I've noticed is that many parts of the game now seem significantly blurrier, which is probably a part of the new lighting system, but personally it just hurts my eyes, but this might just be a personal issue. (This is without short-sighted which makes the game unbearable to look at)

Well it's a real shame that that's the easiest way to do it, but you did find me a solution, so thank you!
Theres also this mod that was posted way later.

Maybe use that instead.

Nope, the blurriness still persists even with them off, maybe they tried smoothing the edges of everything and making the crisp outlines of everything a little less defined to have proper lighting, or I am onto nothing.

I really, Really, REALLY, hope that The Indie Stone does something about this blurriness. The AA method that is currently being used is just terrible. I get second-hand embarrassment that the only two fixes are running the game in debug mode, or using a player-made mod. Plenty of people have reported this as an issue, it really needs to be fixed. It should never be acceptable for an "upgrade" to the AA tech to make your product look worse.

Or make it an option in the settings. If they want to turn it off let them or if they find it ok to smooth out the pixel art let them or whatever they can keep it on.

I agree, but I want to still give them the benefit of the doubt because the new lighting system is still new, the only other problem is the zipper/zigzag lines on walls and doors, but I won't lose any sleep over that.

Would the lighting be directly related to AA though? I like the lighting (it's a little dark, but it looks good), it's the blurry textures apparently caused by the AA implementation that is just...well look at it...

In prior builds of PZ I always took Short Sited. My first character build in 42 I included it and got that immediate blur effect you're describing. Immediately backed out and rerolled without Short Sited and the issue disappeared.

It's not the same thing.
I know it's an old thread, but maybe it will help someone save a few hours of searching online like it did for me. I also had a blurred screen, but so badly blurred that it was unplayable. It turned out that even though I had the 'short-sighted' trait and owned glasses, the view didn't change whether I had them on or not. I read that another player had a similar issue, and in their case, it was because they didn’t have the trait but had chosen therapeutic glasses as one of their starting items when creating the character. I started a new scenario without 'short-sighted' and without glasses, and everything is fine now.
