Can you lose the "overweight" or "underweight" Traits?
As allready said in the Titel, can you lose the over/underweight traits? I've been looking for ways to get some more starting points and over/underweight seem a good option. But i was interessted if you can lose them after exercising enough. Can anyone help me?

yes you can lose both if you eat lots while underweight or exercise/starve yourself while overweight

Yes.

Just watch your diet. calories-heavy food will make you overweight.
just check your character info screen if there are arrows up/down.
if you move/fight alot in melee you burn extra calories., so you need more
calories-food to stay at the same level , depends on playstyle and settings.

The debuffs like trip chance will go away

Loss to Fitness won't. You gotta earn it back

Yes

On default settings, underweight is MUCH faster/easier to get rid of than overweight due to the multipliers available for gaining weight, but iirc locks out some perks you might want. I recommend you ONLY take obese if you're dealing with ridiculously low loot and a winter start/low natures abundance; it takes over a month to get rid of, iirc, and more if you're ever chowing down on food to stay stuffed for whatever reason*

*when you eat to satiated or higher, you're 'wasting' some of your food in exchange for a boost to your recovery rate.

be advised that fitness/strength are THE most annoying stats to train up (or at least competing for the title with nimble) what with a staggering amount of exp needed to level up even to level 1, exponentially increasing requirements for like the entire level curve, and a near complete lack of multipliers to improve how much exp you get. (e.g. no multiplier books, no new excersices unlocked at higher levels for more exp/hour, etc.)
(there's some for strengh like eating all the protein but none for fitness iirc)

Overeating food also boosts your carry weight

However it doesn't last long enough to be useful for something like a loot run so it's more of a niche thing

Yes, you can lose those traits. And, I didn't see anyone in the thread mention this part: You can GAIN them too. If you overeat too much you'll become overweight, if you don't eat enough you'll go underweight.

So if I lose the over/underweight trait, will I still have low endurance? or does that disappear aswell when losing the over/underweight trait?

Literally ONLY the loss of fitness/strength is permanent, and as far as I know only when it's chosen at character creation- It won't remove levels when you gain them mid playthrough.

Every single other effect only persists while you actually have the negative trait, including endurance reduction.

Okay thanks

Just make sure your character is never actually showing the "Starving" moodle while fasting. It will kill you eventually, regardless of your body weight.

I saw somebody say there's a permanent endurance loss in addition to fitness. But I wonder if that isn't just tied to fitness and they were confused on that point.

I don't personally take these traits. Fitness is a giant PITA just to get from 9 to 10 and I almost always take athletic. Pretty much regret not going strong/athletic firefighter every time I get to the late game.

It's not worth the strength reduction and other issues of going hungry to lose weight. Eating low cal and staying physically busy (running, chopping wood, anything that fatigues you) drops weight fast. Yogurt and pickles are super low calorie. Don't even look at peanut butter when trying to lose weight.

We all have extended "staying at home" sessions where we do jack all concerning combat, but true, going fighting hungry is one way to kneecap yourself.

Personally, I too prefer powerful builds like Athletic + Strong + Fast Learner + Veteran, but that's pricey, and I revel in combat. Would I recommended power builds? Absolutely. Do you absolutely need Fitness/Strength on 9 or 10? It's effective, but not a must. I've also played with people that simply deemed it "boring".
