What Is The Best Way To Make Charcoal?
Despite the ability to make Charcoal has been in Vanilla since Louisville was added to PZ even brand new mods made today still offer their own way to make the item.

So in your time playing Project Zomboid, what have you found is to be the best way to obtain Charcoal?

I'd probably make it the only way I know how, and that's to swipe those barrels at Louisville checkpoint and then decide not to make charcoal at all because all it does is double the fuel power of wood and wood is nigh infinite, and those 800 capacity barrels are too precious to use on that.

However if I was going to make a lot of charcoal for whatever reason I'd just put five barrels in a safe place away from roaming zombies and then put logs in them, set them on fire and go chop more trees until they were done burning, or go to sleep I guess, lol.

Does charcoal have a use other than turning wood into a more efficient form of wood?

Not outside of mods, as far as I know. There was a server I used to be on that had a great mod where charcoal was used in all sorts of metalwork. Great server, instead of using 50 different mods it made its own incorporating pretty much everything. Meant you didn't have to shut down and update five times a day (I exaggerate how bad it is with loads of mods but it is bad).

Lol I used to play on a server which had a mod update everyday even with its own custom mod lol

But ya. A good number of mods make use of Charcoal for various crafting recipes
