Dog Companions?
With the new updates having some focus on animals, what's the likely of dog companions being added to the game or even modded into the game? I find so much dog food and find now that hunting is available, you'd have two food resources, dog food, raw meat, even homemade dog food.
As a mainly solo player [due to the fact I have no friends who like this game, womp womp.] I would like to see some life in it with a companion that I can talk to like a crazy person.
Plus having a companion who can also fight for you would be nice, even warn you of dangers lurking ahead or behind.

this is PZ, dog's would most likely would bark to attract more zombo's to you, then run away
The Devs have said that they would like to add dogs, so odds are they will be added at some point in the future - But I can imagine they'll be a fair bit more complex to code than the animals already added, since they'll have to show a greater range of behaviours.

Dogs being added could be a double-edged sword, however; Dogs can be dangerous and one of the possible explanations for the Knox virus outbreak is recent surge in dog attacks on people. In addition, if the Knox virus can cross species boundaries, dogs biting zombies will be inherently at risk of getting the virus themselves.

All those costs aside though, having dogs would be pretty sweet. Cats would also be cool, and probably easier to introduce since they wouldn't be all that different to the racoons behaviour. We'll see what they come out with!

No, they would bark to attract zombies, then attack them, and somehow they would die.
Now your character would get a sadness debuff for 3-12 months.

It can be negated by proper training (prime example are service and police dogs, but most of specimens are trainable) or surgical operation (opt in for some lazy owners).
Also, wdym sadness debuff? I can roleplay not a some weepy wimp but a prime a-hole which celebrated eaten girlfriend by a bourbon and caved in the neighbor head for a pack of sigs.

The problem is the first part with the dogs comes from realism.
The second part is a completely everyday occurance on PZ multi:)
So if you went for sarcasm...it misfired:)
I'm for it.
It'd make for a fun "I Am Legend" experience.
Need to have the ability to converse with mannequins to bring down unhappiness or stress
I don't see why not, honestly. Animals are immune to the virus so in the event that your dog did get a chomp you'd actually be able to bandage them up. Could be nice to be able to order your dog to bite their leg to hold them in place or knock them over.

As for the statement of barking, I mean, I suppose you could take that into consideration with implementation. Add a muzzle to muffle or silence the noise they make, base out somewhere they won't be heard by a bunch of zombies when you get them and ideally train them before they're ready to go out.

Could be a good thing to have, now that we have animals.

The game tries the realism but still has its limitations. E.g. the devs really believe a person can eat a thoroughly rotten potato and have "a mild nausea"?
The person would have crazy diarrhea for a day at very least, needing often "sit breaks", re-hydrating, and pointlessly spending any consumed food.

There is old mod

And maybe now dogs won't be as creepy

I will tell you this ANY animal companion I take around the block with me that dies because of the zoms will leave me gutted.

NPCs... f'em.
Additional multiplayer people... f'em too.
Animals companions dead THAT will wreck my life.

Could we not argue about pixel dogs? AHAHAH. Either way I do hope they are added, legit or modded. I'll take what I can get.
dogs are a good idea they can kill one zom at a time, and will help with foraging

Dogs could definitely be trained to avoid contact/reaction with other humans/zeds and, for example, only help in herding cattle or hunting. However, like all good training it would likely need to start as they are pups.
