Need to Fix B42 Weapon Dulling
The current system for dulling bladed weapons is way too intense. I had a brand spanking new fire axe (obviously a rare commodity now), and it was at "dull" status after killing no more than 8 zombies. Character maintenance level is already at 3, which should be helping the axe to last longer (?).

I have a whetstone, and I understand about having to sharpen your weapons, but this is just extreme. Shouldn't have to maintain a melee weapon -during- a single day out.

One advantage with the new system is that your axe is no longer worn out by chopping trees like it used to be. I have cut down many trees with a hand axe and there was no wear and tear. Unfortunately it no longer builds your axe or carpentry skill when you're chopping down things.

I went through over 2 dozens of scissors just to grind tailoring to level 1 by shortening socks and jeans. Without the tailoring book. The tools' condition also goes down real fast when crafting. Lol.

Try using the safety scissors or the medical scissors, they are non-weapon items lacking "sharpness" but still usable in the recipe. IIRC I broke only one such tool to get to Lv1 without the book.

Looking at the upcoming patch notes the safety & medical scissors are gonna start getting dull now unless changed before going live.

Ouch

Compared to blunt weapons which require no maintenance and can be used until the end, bladed weapons are far too unreliable.
I'd like them to have some advantage, such as being able to inflict clearly more damage than blunt weapons against zombies when in top condition.
I took Jason's machete but quickly switched to an iron pipe.

Is it an official specification that the axe does not deteriorate when cutting wood?
If they start to deteriorate in a future update, it's safe to say that bladed weapons will lose all their advantages.

From the upcoming patch notes, it seems that woodchopping will now dull axes again - BUT all sharpness loss is reduced by half across the board.

Ya, I am really starting to dislike the way the game direction is going which is upsetting . Realism is nice when used correctly but there comes a point where it's just to much & it just becomes tedious, which is what this patch is looking like it's gonna be it for me..

It's definitely excessive. I hope the sharpness thing gets fine-tuned further.
There are still so many things that can be considered going way too hard in the current version.

The firearm jamming, for example, is also still an issue with how excessive it is in its old default setting.
Just turning jamming off as a default doesn't really solve the core problem IMO.

But it also states dulling is halved.

True, doesn't stop the fact that given them a condition bar & making them dull is just gonna make things more tedious, even if dulling is cut in half.

But unbreakable tool which lasts forever is sound like a cheat mod. Moreso if it a bladed one rather than a lump of steel to bash things.

Personally I really don't care at this point, with all the other changes in B42 making the game even more tedious doesn't make it more fun, it just makes it a mindless grind.

I agree, with these changes it's getting to the point where most everything is a struggle. And it's not the fun kind of struggle, but ends up more tedious.

Why should a fire axe cause the same damage to a Z as a crowbar or baseball bat? It's literally a blade, that doesn't make sense. Takes the same number of swings now on average to kill em.

We are definitely headed on a tedious path. I'm not sure the crafting and visuals update was worth all of the extra tedium.

it's unstable. This is specifically to test the build.

For now you can use x5 global XP and reduce the tediousness. Or specifically the skill which annoys you.

If something bugs out I just add it via the -debug. Like welding torches get a tag "empty", become a "not torch" for game and cannot be refilled. Fine, I'll just add 20 of them.
