How to obtain planks

Hi hoping someone can help me here, my carpentry is level 3 (I think) I am trying to get a lot of planks to build a base. What is the easiest way to get planks? I don't think I am near any warehouse so think I have to get them myself. I am trying to go to houses to dismantle furniture but wondering if there is an easier way. Thank you

Wood saw + log = 3 planks

You can pick up logs off the ground at first, but making crude stone axes isn't too hard (branch + rag + sharp flint piece). They don't last long while your maintenance and axe skills are low, however, so you'll go through a few of them at low skill level.

When you weren't able to pick logs from the ground? I always did, even tie up to 4 logs together with a rope and carry them to build a log wall.

You could forage them. I don't think you could right-click log art on tiles to grab them. Really helpful for large rocks too.

1. destroying wood usually drops planks
2. cutting down trees also gives logs that you can saw into planks sticks or what have you
3. hardware stores have planks
4. sometimes trucks and heavy duty vehicles may have planks in the trunk / back

short answer; Find an axe and start cutting trees down, then saw the logs into planks with a saw.

better answer; Beware this will fatigue your character heavily, and the logs are extremely heavy. The best way to do this is with a truck and sheet ropes. Do not saw the logs into planks in the forest. Bundle the logs into groups of 4 so they weight less (magic) and stuff them in the trunk. Bring the logs to where you need planks and saw them there. Each log will give 3 planks so do your best to plan around that.

if you feel safe enough in the area you are cutting and/or your combat, wear as little clothes as possible and bring a chair or just sit in your car to recover stamina, cut down as much as possible and get a full trunk in one day, go home, rest, and come back for the rest the next day, you just gotta grind it out day by day and never forget any given tree you are cutting might attract some attention or have something hiding behind it

If in a forested area:
1. Cut mature trees with axe, saw the logs it provides with a saw
2. On the ground you see a log, pick it up, saw with a saw
3. Walk around with foraging enabled. Sometimes you find logs in that way as well. Saw 'em too
4. Sometimes you also find a Large Branch while foraging. Can also be sawed into one Plank
5. I think with pretty high carving level, you could also carve normal Branches into Planks with a bladed item

If in a built-up area:
1. Obtain a saw, maybe hammer + screwdriver was also needed. Go mental on every single piece of furniture made of wood. As a bonus, gives Nails too.

Chopping trees is one of the riskier ways of doing it but the most reliable. I recommend you find rope or make some sheet rope out of rags. 12 - 24 of them is enough if you wanna chop. You get the planks by then sawing the logs you just chopped down from trees.
You can also find planks in the many of the warehouses.
IN both cases you'll want a vehicle with lots of trunk space and a trailer if you can find one.

Ive found that cutting down trees is easier than dismantling furniture. Guaranteed planks from logs whereas theres an (insert number here) % of getting planks/nails.

I've been breaking down furniture and its like a 1 for every 3 I break down lol been a rough go of it

Nah, a stable trick was if you spawned in muldrough or WP that you go to Mccoys and loot, and dismantle all them boxes. If you were even more dedicated you took a tv and some of the books. Could get to level 7 carpentry easily.
