Project Zomboid

Looking for a good wilderness home location
Ok so i want to try a 'living offgrid' challenge in b42. Forage, fish and hunt, maybe some farming.

I will be playing with the Week One Mod meaning I give myself seven days to loot and prepare and then book off far away from any city (because it will get nuked). Also after the nukes hit, a nuclear winter will happend for about 1/2 months I believe, so it will be VERY cold.

I'm looking for a place with water to fish/drink/cook/etc. Antique stove I can get from somewhere and bring with me, same with rain collector barrels.

I also thought of turning maybe an old warehouse or something into a home, I'd have a tent, campsite etc indoors.

The cabin in the woods north of Guns Unlimited is good, but there no path for a car so trips back and forth would be long and dangerous (with bandits on the roads and outside)

The McCoy estate, north of Muldraugh, comes to mind.

It could work, hard to fortify against bandits though but I'll try it

east of muldraugh = cabins lakes - good for solo not multi player
I tried the McCoy Estate on Week One. Not only was it thick with sick people waiting to turn, but it had a near endless stream of bandits, bombers, and later a big ol biker gang came to move in. And worse in all the chaos I had killed some civvies and when the cops and swat rolled in, I was on their target list. Tried to just cut it and run, but had a bullet in the leg slowing me down, and I was taken out by a few swat guys.
If you have the bombs dropping, many places wont exist more than likely. Even houses far out of town will see bombs drop around them and more than likely suffer at least some fire damage.

I would think heading for the base, to take out the bomb, would leave a serious wilderness player in a good place, as you should be able to loot all sorts of gear there before bugging out, even setting up some supply piles outside of it to come back for possibly.

To go around that the best plan is to stay in your starting town as the regular bombs hit, I found out bombs never fall on you directly but about ten tiles around you, so you just wait and avoid fires.

Once the bombs are done you leave and wait for the nukes to hit on the side of the road away from the cities, then you can reach your actual home, though it will have a bunch of bodies around and most likely inside, so you'll have to clean.

I don't disable the bomb because I like the idea of fallout and main cities being a no go, forcing you to loot the countryside
North of Riverside, there are 2 houses that face the river, you can live comfortably! It is close to the military checkpoint, water and wood and there is no shortage of what you need to make a great base!
