Do Katanas still exist?

I was realizing the bug with meat cleavers that I was not getting long blade skill at all, and wouldn't be able to use a katana. Than remember I haven't seen a katana in B42. This is my ~25 map or so, at least 18 of them were max spawns, and I haven't seen any katana drop

Sledgehammers are super rare, but I have picked up a couple so far, but no katanas, usually I can find one in a pawnshop or random survivor home

Japanese swords do exist.
I got three of them with the same character.
I haven't seen a single sledgehammer, though.

However, Japanese swords can't be sharpened, so they aren't as strong as they used to be.

They do exist, but if you have some crafting mods you can smith it at metalworking 10.

In 41 I don't think the katana spawned until day 60, maybe 30. So you got to get that far at least before you might see a zombie with a katana sticking out of it.

Cleavers used to be short blade in B41 but are now axes in B42. You want machetes or the new craftable swords for long blade.
