Any way to make self-build walls look normal?
I am trying to errect a second floor on top of the building I am residing in. I have chosen to make the second floor an almost all-window wall. But the walls looked bangked together and pretty zhittiy.

Is there any way to make them look like normal walls which are not that ugly?

Yea you'll need a plastering trowel and plaster powder and high enough Carpentry Skill. I think I was able to do it at Carpentry 8? Not sure. :) You can also paint the wall after that.
8?!
What the hell am I supposed to build to get to level 8? I have already build an entire house and have not even reached level 4 yet.

I need to build over 1500 floor boards just to get to level 5!

you need to be able make/upgrade level 3 walls for paint/plaster. whatever level carpentry gets you that is all you need. it might be level 8, not sure i remember the level. the wiki might tell you.

Haha I checked on wiki and it was 4 in B41, and I assume it wasn't changed. I was already at 8 at that point. Just need a bucket of plaster, carpentry 4 and a plastering trowel, then right click the wall and you should get "Plaster" option.

Clearcut a forest and build a wall to section off areas you have cleared.

You can fortify your bases location using wood walls and gates. At level four, you should be able to upgrade those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ walls to level 2 windowed walls. They'll look a little better and that will gain you some XP too.

Finding the skills books for carpentry and VHS tapes for woodwork (there's seven last I checked), you'll level up real fast.

It looks like you might be at the Riverside gas station. There's a VHS store if you follow the southern road, heading east past the grocery store that's near you. Take some weapons with you it'll get bloody. There's also a school (books) if you travel further down that same road. Again, bring weapons, you'll need 'em -.- and a book store if you follow that same road a little passed the gigamart, heading north. When you see the rows of shops, head west and find enigma books or naked books or something like that. It'll have books somewhere on the front of the store.

The fun part is levelling welding cuz the materials aren't as easy to come by.

I think the devs have limited the VHS' effect to level 3 maximum so they're useless at level 4.

I already have 4 VHS and have watched them already. That's how I know that the VHS tapes aren't good for anything past level 3 now. The VHS store is where I got them from.

I have already been at the school and raided it completely. Same for the Enigma book store and the post office. Problem ist that I lost like 50-75% of my entire loot, because of the "unknown grass tile bug" which the devs still haven't fixed yet, despite the bug crashing the game AND deleting items. I was quite sad when that happened (twice). I lost like 6 metal traps and a whole bunch of other useful stuff - including the carpentry books.

I already found the upgrade option myself, because I just reached level 4, but it's basically just building the entire thing again ressource-wise.

Yes VHS stop giving skill at level 3, you can change it in the sandbox settings however if you don't like that. That change came in B42.

Barricade. You weld metal sheet to window and unweld till you get tired of it. Metal sheets and welding torches are pretty common

The upgrade should cost slightly less resource wise but it can still be a pain in the ass if you don't have easy access.

Not gunna lie though that bug would make me rage quit. I stopped my play through when I couldn't repair weapons anymore. Gunna wait some time before starting up again. That one just pissed me off cuz I'd built up a stock of good ones too :3

If you find double sided paddle blades take them all. They're as good as a machete with half the durability or lasting power. Anyways, side tracking. It sounds like starting again or waiting, or perhaps moving on to a different area altogether is the best move at this point.

Yes VHS stop giving skill at level 3.

That's just the default option. It can be changed in sandbox settings.

I did that the first few levels. Then I leveled 3 and 4 making floor tiles. for 5 and six, was making walls and gates. Efective, but costly. I only had to make a gate house too. They're common compared to in B41 but compared to planks and wood in general they're only half as common. Maybe less.
