[B42] Did they nerf all the foods?
Im finding that I currently need to stuff my face with an unrealistic amount of food just to stay on top of myself. Most of my food I've been eating has been meats and whatever other junk food I can find. Plenty of sodas too. I'm not waiting long too eat, I'm eating enough to get full to bursting, and I eat when I get the first hunger moodle. And yet imnsrill losing weight faster than i can shove food into my body. What gives?? Where did all the fats and calories in eveything go, or am I the crazy one here? :deadrat:

Man, just make a pot of stew with a lot of meat put in it. And then down the entire thing in one go. Massive bonuses for putting butter and lard in. This is perfect when you are just planning to futz about the base, reading books, planting crops, constructing stuff or basically just anything that's not stamina consuming, like running and fighting. Also you can make butter from cow milk with a churn constructed.

I was also eating a ♥♥♥♥ ton of baked foods, butter, and foods like that. And I still can't gain any weight, and nope, I'm not sprinting/running around that much to start burning my calories so I'd "burn" myself to 10 Kg of weight. Eating butter and fish may help sometimes, but not much tbh, B41's weight and calories system was more balanced than the one in B42.

Seems like losing weight is much easier in B42 than in previous build, a lot more easier than gaining it.

So you either set food loot amount (both perishables and non-perishables) higher in sandbox options, and eat a ton of butter, meat, etc eand overeat everyday, or suffer because your character is now forever free of becoming an obese person due to being unable to stay non-underweight for more than 3 days or so. Very irrealistic tbh.

I don't get why they changed so much, regarding loot, balance, population density and crafting.

Wasn't the game already balanced enough? Why did they change all that?
Feels like it will take ages to re-balance everything again.

Such a strange way of developing a game.. Like completely re-writing things instead of just simply adding things.

Like add crafting recipes sure, but why change the whole way crafting is done, this late into game development? It will never be finished at this rate.

1 step forward, 2 steps back.. just adding tedium

This update would have been fine with just adding the darkness mechanic, animals and more crafting recipes.. instead they competently re-write everything. Tweaking and modifying every aspect of the game.

It feels incomplete to me. Like the list of foods that should be high in calories isnt fully updated, and the amount of movement needed to lose weight feels way to easy to hit. It makes sense that youd need to eat more calorie dense foods to gain weight, especially if youre doing a lot of running, crouch walking, fighting, looting a lot of items, jumping fences, ect, but also if youre moving a lot in general youd be "losing weight" if youd sit down for a couple hours and stuff your face then youd "gain weight". Makes sense, just needs to be tweaked and fixed a bit more imo.
Personally, Im waiting on the video game mod to update to 42 so I can have more than just books and tv/vhs and cds to sit around with.
After I harvested my first crops and started trapping wabbits, I noticed that gaining weight is way easier in B42.
I constantly get the ++ on weight gain even though I'm running around all the time.

Then again, wabbits are super high calorie in this game which isn't really all that realistic. (Here's hoping they don't nerf wabbit meat too)

They did it, in their own words, so people who like to play a more primitive play style have the ability to do so without needing a ♥♥♥♥ ton of mods. Its to make it enjoyable and playable long into a games lifespan. Like for players who somehow survive a full year or two into the game or want to start off like that have an easier time surviving in a world thats forgotten a lot of the modernity of life. Im also paraphrasing it, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I think its perfect for the unstable branch, as long as they leave 41 alone for now until they really iron out some issues and maybe to give a wider range of people a chance to play the game however they like again. It was a small testing team that played with 42 before the rest of us got it. The team is probably not expecting all the different opinions for 42. Not giving it a pass just cause I like the new update, I can see how people are put off by it since it really does change everything.

i ate alot of candy and went from 72 to 79.
This doesn't make sense. Why didn't ice cream help me? Maybe some items are just out of balance then.

I believe they made all these changes with a long-term view. Mainly, possibly, for when we have NPCs on B43, where, I believe, it will be easier to survive in the long term.

I've just been eating chicken/eggs from my animals farm (which causes my weight to slowly go down) then eating a stick of butter whenever I'm at around 80 pounds which makes my weight shoot up a few points over the next couple days.

Possibly, but for now it seems to need more balancing or theres some bug in the system.

Peanut butter is another way to get calories quickly. Rabbits also give a stupid amount of calories, despite being... well, rabbits.

Eggs seem trash. I moved into the huge chicken farm and have been eating eggs for the past few days and i'm losing weight. It's not even worth my time to collect and cook them all since they seem to do literally nothing. Ive been walking around with 10 lbs of eggs in my backpack just eating them whenever I can.

Can confirm. Don't know if it's nerf or bug, maybe even something else but eggs are total garbage on B42. I don't even collect them anymore as well.
