New to the game, do i start in buld 42?
So ive just picked up PZ and i was wondering if it was better to start directly on build 42 than playing in the current release to learn the basics. Any advice appreciated :) thanks!

Hmm, honestly up to you i would say.

The way i see it, there's pros and cons;

PRO
- You familiarize yourself with the most up-to-date version of the game, and B42 is a thicc content patch.
- You can select a variety of difficulty settings so it's not necessarily an issue there either
- You get to enjoy the (great) work of whoever did the world building for this build. It is truely fantastic and georgeous.

CON
- B42 is still unstable, and features more jenk than B41, which can and will likely give you some bad experiences with it.
- B42 being unstable, it will be in a state of flux for the next months, featuring probably wipes, balancing and such, making learning a game somewhat more arduous.

If it were me, i would start with B41, because this is the more refined, tuned and stable version at the moment, many guides exist for it, and even though many aspects and systems will change whenever you switch over to B42, i value the aforementioned aspects more than novelty, always.

Start with B41, better to learn with a stable version because the unstable will be changing all the time until it gets to stable, and that will take months.

Definately play in b41. B 42 is called unstable for a reason. There are plenty of bugs or changes in balance to be made.
Combat changes that make figthing large groups harder.
IMO its easier to learn the basics in b41 and then adapt.

Reasons to play b42.
Lots of new skills and different crafting system (that needs improvement tho).
New areas (but u r new so there are plenty of areas to explore either way).
New lighting system. It looks beautiful and changes how u play. Indoor rooms without a light/window will be pitch black. So u need a flashlight.
And much more ^^

I think you can easily play b41 for several hundred hours and wait for stable version before b42. Or play b41 until you can survive 1 month so that u learn the basics.

ALSO: there r a lot more mods for b41 =) Eventually will will find some u want/need xD

If I were me, and I am, I would start on 42.

I would also remind myself that build 42 is NOT full stable yet. There are missing pieces and broken things, resulting in the popup warning that it is very much UNSTABLE build. And with that in my mind, I can go a head and learn build 42 for its unstable state.

I would also tell myself to keep a close eye on every patch note and developer blog about how it it progressing.

I would absolutely not start with B42 the way it is now. :D
Go B41. Just controls in general are a lot better.

PZ can also be very overwhelming when u start playing. Even if u watch some guides, its different when u r in control. B42 adds so much stuff its even more crazy with all the new skills and stuff u have to pay attention to.
That said if u can manage b42, u will become a better player faster probably.
Or it might make u give up xD

B41 for sure. B42 has too many issues, simply unstable to where various things are broken. It will be worked on for AT LEAST several months.

Yep B41

B42 is full of weird "nerfs to the ground", mindblowing grinding and broken OP stuff, mix up all together. Coke can allow you to be awake for days and never be tired if drink in 10-20 ml sip, or a cow produce enough non perishable butter to keep you fed for ever, while trying to be able to use the new supposedly primitive techs like smithing requires so much effort, you better of doing it in real life, it would take you less time. B41 is better for a new player until B42 is refined in probably a couple of years (Slowest devs in the industry by a mile behind this game btw)

B42 has the best performance but everything else is just worse in every way. Stick to B41 if you want content since most of it is either broken or not present in B42 for some reason

Same opinion. The performance and lighting is great, but everything else is worse. Except animals, I never got to them before switching back to B41 so idk about that. xD

If you are worried about your saves breaking during hotfixes i would NOT play unstable , they havent started with hotfixes yet due to holidays and once they do start that kick off things will get fixed other things will get broken. So if you do play it just have an open mind and read the warnings that come with it.

If you just want to check out the build and give feedback go for it, if you dont care if saves get broken go for it.
