Basements: Bases or Traps
Have you found the basements in B42 to be great places for bases? or are basements just another trap? I think they look cool for a base but I can't help but think i'm trapped.

Yes

I think they would be a great base idea if you could add a second exit. Otherwise even if you can keep zombies out forever you'd just be waiting to die, and no one will be coming to save you like they did in NotLD.
I saw a basement that had a cool stash of ammo in it. Thought I'd share that...

Mostly death traps(which is fine) but useful for bulk storage and crafting station type work.
Though there's an issue with the lights not working even with a generator(only heard about it)

You can smash the floor above and drop a rope down.

There are mods that allow you to expand basements now, so you could feasibly expand them into a second basement for an emergency exit

That very same mod had making secondary entrance as a future plan. Hopefully it won't be too hard to implement, I'd be surprised if that makes it to vanilla any time soon.

Trapped as in there's no exit if a horde decides to swarm the basement?

There's a bomb shelter under the school in Rosewood. It has two entrances and the shelter itself is spacious enough to fight a horde before attempting to make an escape. It definitely feels like a great base material. But I'm too lazy to remodel the shelter at the moment. Lol.

No alt exit. Doesn't matter after you've cleared the area and you haven't left for 3+ days.

If had lot stronger doors and way to make 2nd exit they would be great. As is they decent. I use one in house i stole out in the country "Building my farm around it and just using it for storage temp and for looks lol" as storage for rarely used items. Or extra weapons and tools I dont need too often.

But with mods its different story. With being able to extend size of basement.. Making traps in it.. Then it becomes very useful. Though with only one exit still, becomes a issue again in situations. What I would like base game to include "other then already mentioned items" is ability to dig root cellars. "If can already I haven't found it." So we could use them for food storage when power goes out. Or to simply save on power. My crawl space alone gets cold evcn during the summer. And my grandparents root cellar was colder then our refrigerator lol

Every time I go down a basement, I have an anxious feeling to get out.
