How do you contain your animals?
Every time I try to fence a cow they just break it and run away or go ghost mode and walk through it.

I haven't tried being a rancher yet, but from what I've seen, you need to assign their roaming zone manually to keep them in place. Have you done that?

You need to set a zone for them. It says animals will stay in the zone you set even if it is not fenced in.

I use one of the pastures that already existed in Echo Creek. It came with cows too. As a bonus there's a sheep farm directly to the south within walking distance and a chicken farm just up the road.

I've set that, but it does say if they're stressed they'll leave. Hard to keep them in if a zombie happens to walk by, they just destroy the fence or ghost through it.
How do you actually assign animal to the zone?

People replying dont seem to understand, right now it's just broke. Animals will still wander off even with no zombies in sight,

for animals not to wander off or not to destroy your fences and run away you need to get their acceptance level to a 100. this is done by been near them, petting (every 4 hours for +3-6 acceptance), luring (only when acceptance above 20 else attempt will fail) with food (+5 acceptance every successful try). clearly no one bothered to try to play a game without a debug mode.
I put down food and water and pet them daily. If dead are around I sneak away and make loud noises to get them away from the animals. If they get stressed, the pen is too small, or you get in a fight around them they will break stuff. Also dont butcher their kin in front of them. Pet them. Pet them again. Keep petting, seriously.

You put them in the zone.

But they still wander off even without zombies around. You might want to build an enclosure around the animal zone to keep them. I lost 5 animals because they wander off away from my base lol.

Ok, this is what i did, but in the info tab, my chcickens still have no zone assigned. I think i will just follow your advice and fence them off.

I wonder is the information about pest control for plants done by chickens legit. Because then i might surround hutch with cabbages :)
