Chicken coop
Has anyone figured out what the purpose of leaving the hatch door open is? I've tried leaving it closed and open and the hens hatch both ways. Does anyone know what this is for?

In sandbox settings under livestock there is a meta event for them , unchecked by default, in irl you always have to close those so raccoons and animals dont get in there.

So racoons dont put the chickens in bags and run away with them. Gotcha. If you build normal fences around the coups and metal fences does it help ?
I only ever seen rats so far...but a ton:D

i saw 1 wild rat, by the diner by the two story gas station. first encounter.
Then had 2 in a basement my latest run.
Chickens are cool as hell

No sure about the hatch door, Sometimes they can lay eggs not even inside of the coop. Just on the floor. Maybe its in there for a reason but not fully involved in the process yet.

I was under the impression that the chickens wouldn't be able to eat if the hatch door is closed and they were inside. Whenever I leave my house for an extended period of time, I leave the chickens in the coop and when I come back they are all hungry. They don't seem to get hungry if they're allowed to roam even if you don't leave food down for them.

why wouldnt you let them roam? Max productivity?
