Leveling maintenance 0-1 B42
How am I suppose to level up maintenance from 0-1 without any crafting receipts.

What is the best method in B42?

I'm pretty sure the crowbar no longer counts as a weapon and therefore doesn't grant any XP for maintenance.

Yeah that's why I am not happy with this update. B42 seems like the grind update where they just wanted to make it more annoying to level up or do anything in the game. I assume this is because they are going to add NPCs in the future so there's going to be less focus on maxing out all stats and instead more focus on specializing but considering that we don't currently have NPCs (and it'll likely be years before we do) and we also don't have multiplayer, the game just is needlessly grindy. Had they added NPCs first and then increased the grind, I'd be fine with it but rn, playing single player PZ just feels like a chore more than anything.

The heck, but the crowbar *is* a melee weapon...

The crowbar does grant maintenance experience - just very little.
It seems carving forks and hand forks give about 1 exp per proc.
Without any related traits that's then reduced to 25% for the first skill level as usual.

Not anymore unfortunately. I think it's categorized as a tool, similar to the sledgehammer.

according to the devs "weapon/tools" granting maintenance exp was TOOOO overpowered for the skill that already takes a ridiculous amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ effort to level up.
so now only "weapons" give it, which i assume are things like baseball bats, katanas, machetes,
yea really stupid change, as with a ton of other gameplay changes that werent explicably advertised

It feels they are treating the game balance like the average player has 1k hours in the game, everything feels like it takes forever. i see myself closing the due to the sudden feeling that the grind to do anything is going to take a whole day of repetitive tasks.

BTW, i played Wurm online, and this is even more grinding regarding level up.

I feel it. I used to play Ark and that game has a ton of grinding but at this point I am just unwilling to put that amount of time into any game. Even ripping clothing feels like it takes forever now, but hey, we can at least sit down on chairs now lol.

grab a pipe and spam garage doors. pipe wont break easy and u will get xp

I just turn the xp multipliers up more than usual and add trait points on start - which is "cheating", but brings the grind down to a point that is actually fun and feasible in the amount of time I have to play. It is at least natively configurable, as opposed to having to use external tools to modify and edit the experience. But then, I play mostly single player, so I can do what I want. I agree that the default experience is a grind I am just not interested in and wouod not find fun at all at this point, probably even with friends splitting specialties.

This is indeed stupid because in many horror films, tools are used as weapons, like hammers.
