raising chicken
So I got a chicken coop with a hutch and a bunch of chickens.
They're already laying eggs.
Does anyone know already how long it takes for eggs to turn into meat?
Aside from keeping them fed and the coop clean is there anything else that needs attention?

Water and time is all your missing. Not sure how long it takes though, we're all finding out together.

I'm waiting for my cows to make more cows, but they don't seem interested in doing the "deed". I'm wondering if they HAVE to be the same breed of cow. They shouldn't, that just doesn't make sense. It may be a different breed, but it's still the same species.

I guess I got my answer.
In the coop there's now a tiny chicken running about.
I didn't change anything from the above.
I guess it takes about a month for eggs to hatch.
Lets see how long it takes for it to grow into meat :)

Change its name to nugget. When it's fully grown you can change the name to Karaage. :steamhappy:

i think i read it was 7 days, and then they changed it to 14 days for eggs to hatch

It seems to be really easy, I moved into the farm north of Mul, went to bed with no chickens and no eggs, woke up with 10 chickens and 8 eggs lol

Thank you for the fine suggestion.
I'll put it on my todo list for today :)

It might have been 14 days in my case as well.
I didn't exactly time it.

So my coop has been filled with little nuggets for a while now but none have grown into adult chickens.
Seems like I got that wrong earlier, otherwise I'd have more fully grown chickens with the two ingame months that have passed by now.

Since I don't see any changes after all that time I'm left wondering if they grow up at all and queried ChatGPT how it goes for real chickens:
Hello!

The process of hatching a chicken egg and the chick fully growing involves several stages:

### 1. **Incubation Period:**
- **Time to Hatch:** It typically takes **21 days** for a chicken egg to hatch once it's been incubated under the right conditions (proper temperature and humidity).

### 2. **Chick Development After Hatching:**
- **First Few Days:** After hatching, chicks are covered in soft down feathers and rely on their yolk sac for nutrition for the first 24–48 hours.
- **Feathering Up:** In the next few weeks, they grow feathers and start to look more like adult chickens. This process takes about **6–8 weeks**.
- **Fully Grown Chickens:** While chicks grow rapidly in the first few months, they are considered "fully grown" in terms of size and maturity at about **5 to 6 months**. However, they continue to develop, with some chickens reaching full maturity and starting to lay eggs around **6–8 months**, depending on the breed.

In summary:
- **Hatching time**: 21 days.
- **Chick growth**: Full growth typically takes **5–6 months**, but they start feathering up after 6–8 weeks.
Has anyone made any test runs to check animal growth and if it mirrors real animals?
