Project Zomboid

Please allow animals to be kept indoors (Build 42)
Hay developers please allow animals to be kept indoors. For example, I want to run a chicken farm in a garage. I think in a real zombie apocalypse this would work in real life too. Unfortunately, this is only possible to a limited extent in the game because the chickens do not lay eggs. The chickens have the best security in the garage and should feel extremely comfortable

Have you tried building a hutch in the garage? I have not tried that, but I know they only lay eggs in their hutch. You could just stick the hutch RIGHT outside the garage door and then you only have to fence a couple tiles to connect it. I'd try testing to see if a hutch can go indoors, and if it can go indoors if there is a two story space, like a warehouse with a z level above with no floor in between - high ceilings.

If I were handy I could test it. But unrealistically you need level 3 carpentry skills because basically anyone could build it without any carpentry skills. The Hünerstahl is really big and I would temporarily like smaller versions that could be built with carpentry level one

I've been testing things in debug mode using "cheats" since it's testing. So I can figure out what is possible and how the new functions even work so I can engage with them with enough information to see what is a bug and what is just not supposed to be a feature.

I'll get on a bit later today and check that out, I was already working on building a test farm area, so I'll remind myself to check on coops indoors. I already know that other animals will lower their stress if they have an indoor space in their pen, they prefer to sleep under a roof.

I think pigs, cows and sheep don't need proper housing. But I think if I build a chicken farm in a house, everything should be fulfilled. But I think chickens are programmed to need a coop, which I find nonsensical

Did you ever test that? Also should turkeys have hutch like chickens?
