B42 Darkness - Peoples thoughts?
After a few hours playing I'm just wondering if internal/in building darkness is a bit extreme.
I totally get how exploring dark buildings is core horror vibes.

The night time darkness can be adjusted in setting, and I usually play with it being fairly bright. My game style is to have zombies at their most powerful at night so I tend to hide and go to bed early instead or running around at night.

It seems the inside darkness is different to the outside darkness and doesn't match the dark settings. Its so powerful its less of a darkness and more of a void.

I've not seem any gamers comment yet, but this dark void will make most of the game unplayable for fun players like me once the electricity shuts off. I cant imagine trying to liberate the Mall when its going to be just all black.

Yeah, yeah, i know, flashlight etc. But nothing is ever that dark. and using a flashlight AND a two handed weapon is not going to be possible.

I'm just wondering if the Devs will adjust this as so far as in the Unstable its a bit all consuming.
Or if we are going to be able to attach maglights to weapons, Or at last wear a miners hat with a lamp for when we are exploring inside buildings?

Peoples thoughts and experiences?

Thanks.

I changed nighttime darkness to "Bright" in settings. I use color/gamma calibrated monitors and, while the colors is SO much better, the darks are significatly darker than the monitors of other people that I've met. Even with Bright and "cat's eye's" you can barely see anything. If you're in an unlit basement you literally cannot see. I don't think anything changes that.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that...if you like it go for it, if not, it can be changed.

I like this idea...
Maybe we need more sources of oil. Not necessarily the petrochem kind, natural lipids would be great. Farming might provide that, but I haven't gotten my first harvest in to play with yet.

I love it, finally flashlights have a purpose

My only complaint is that the earliest light source known to man, the torch, isn't craftable as far as I can see.

I've always played with cat eyes and never really needed to use a flashlight. I like how those are now useful. Hoping there will be more options for light sources though.

do cat eyes work for the internal darkness?

I find that I have to turn the lights on during the day if the curtains are drawn. That doesn't make any sense. And when there's no more power, it would be game breaking.

They don't work in basements if that's what you mean. Or if you're in a room with the door closed and no light source. It's just black.

If there's no light sources then no, it's gonna be pitch black no matter what I guess

Not really flashlights and late game torches or other means of light is gonna solve that issue easily.

Is the lunar cycle and moonlight implemented?
Cold Grave Dec 21, 2024 @ 8:29am
I like the darkness change overall, but it's extreme. Would prefer your eyes become adjusted over time, and the pitch black be limited to coming inside from bright sunshine or after staring at a bright light

Yes it is. On night's with a full moon is it brighter outside and not too hard to see. Conversely, on a new moon it is very dark, but not pitch black.
