42 broke metal drums?
Their functionality in collecting 800L of rainwater seems to be completely gone. In fact, they're non-interactable at all (purely decorative) except for the variants with wood in them (that you can use for burning I guess).
Did the liquid system rework completely break them...? They were the best method of collecting rainwater...

EDIT: "HURRR THIS WAS MOD ONLY YOU ARE LE STOOPID I AM LE SMART XD"
How about you shut the ♥♥♥♥ up before you start spouting ♥♥♥♥ you have no idea about, bros. :)

Ah yes this used to be a mod function, you sir are confused :D
Its from the Fuel API mod. that converts existing barrels and oil drums into collector vessals.
this was never a vanilla thing.
yeah, do believe this was a mod function

That said though it seems you can no longer fill empty paint cans with water to use like buckets

Still got bleach bottles, and now also got fittnes bottles big 1000mm bottles for those long trips. But yeah sad that the paintcan lost its abiltiy to carry anything other then paint.
Could be a liquid sytem bug that may need reporting.
Updated the OP to all the smartasses saying this was mod content: no it wasn't.
Seem OP don't watch the vid,
My guest that they change some code for some but not all item that can collect water.

Beside using a Industrial drum that contain oil or other chemical to store water is a short way to a early grave.
OP is correct. The six Metal Drums that hold 800 water located just past the military checkpoint to Louisville no longer hold water and the wood inside cannot be removed. I play with no mods. This was in Vanilla 41.

Then why he put the video talking about a mod that alwoys you to gas into the barrel?
The man just ask to confused everyone, beside I report his tread for be hostile.
Looking at the tile with the metal drum through debug I can see that their "IsWaterCollector=" flag is set to nothing. But it IS there, so... is it really just a matter of a simple flag toggle??

Some of the other metal drums are NOT interactable at all, as in you can't even pick them up. Notably the ones that "spawned" with the water inside.
And yeah, like mentioned above, one cannot empty one out of logs if they're inside. But you can still burn stuff in that drum.

How do you collect rainwater at all in 42?? I don't see any craftable water barrels and I'm on level 4 carpentry. Is it recipe book RNG?

I'm not sure if that was the case before but you can now find those in new Muldraugh as well.

its literally under the carpentry tab in the new building menu
The 800l water collectors ARE the ones that burn wood and turn into charcoal

Remove the logs and it can collect water

The others have never been able to hold anything

No, I actually found it just now, it was the "Outdoors" building menu, not "Carpentry".

Man. Why do people INSIST on being "helpful" when they obviously haven't tried what they're saying to do themselves?

Go do the thing you just said in-game in build 42 right now.
I don't know about B42, but everyone is correct and you are WRONG about how it was. Metal barrels with logs were the only metal drums that you could collect water from IF you removed the wood. They were mostly located at the military checkpoint south of LV, A mod allowed you to take any metal drum and turn it into a water collector, not vanilla. That isn't to say that they work in B42, or that you are wrong about that.
