I noticed that Muldraugh and West Point are insane on default populations. I'm gonna enjoy finding out what happens on peak population day.
There is an option to make zombies spawn in urban areas, which would account for the density at the start.
Also, there is a setting that results in lots of zombies around loot locations (which hints at a back story). If you spawn in an urban area around a juicy loot place, its going to be a bit spicy.
Rosewood is a good place to start for me (I'm a true blood coward). I run away to the builders timber yard to the south and make that my base and safe house and then start chipping away at zombie numbers until i can liberate that small town (starting with the fire station and cop shop).
Good luck
btw Hemp is in the game now. well.. Rope making Hemp. Not sure its worth a visit up the rosewood secret base. facility maybe its not hot up there anymore. who knows.
I laid low for a day or two at the start of the outbreak, made sure not to attract too much attention. The zombies thinned out a little. Then, using my stealth based character, I outsmarted the zombies, confusing their basic senses by clambering over fences, leading them one way, then doubling back. I thinned out the crowds in the area I wanted to set up home, then I went around and caved in the skulls of those who remained.
Remember, when you select Apocalypse it says: 'stealth based, avoid combat.'
Just survived the helicopter, sitting on a humble 200 kills, though currently isolated from my home by hordes, might have to ditch the hogs I was raising and relocate if I want to survive. At least my skills are increasing, and I have decent gear. I found a few interesting locations on the map from various magazines, I might make my way to the brewery.
Your brain will always be your most powerful weapon against the Zs.
I noticed the difference really fast.
in standard configs has a lot more zombies on the streets and buildings
but in highway and side roads or farm lands has a lot less zomboidos.
*star game
run like Forrest Gump out the city.
