No plumbing? Sterilizing water bug? Build 42
Not being able to sterilize water AND plumbing not functional in this build??? That first part better be fixed but this has already killed my motivation to keep going after my water shutdown lol

Edit: Some container like Saucepan can't sterilize water aeough.

Saw someone say it takes a few hours to sterilize

Yikes yeah like ~3 hours and I tested more since I started this with a saucepan with water
But I boiled a pot of water too and only THAT worked.

Yeah. The bucket is where I noticed it. 10 liters took like 3-4 hours in game to finally finish.

Not being able to plumb too... (Source: https://steamcommunity.com/app/108600/discussions/0/595135660380169850/) sounds like a real hassle to collect every cooking pot I find

Especially since a regular cooking pot only holds 1.5L of water. That's a terribly small "pot". I have saucepans in my cabinet that hold 2. My smallest cooking pot holds 3. A friend of mine has one that's huge that he uses for making large batch things like au jus. That thing must be 30L.

I was just able to make a campfire and turn tainted water from a lake into drinkable water pretty quickly using a cooking pot.

in the mean time you can take water dispensers and fill them up at towns until if you are desperate.

Forgor about the dispensers but for the long term especially with animal handling its gonna be a pain, sure it'll get fixed by then

I mean it kinda makes sense it takes longer now but not sure how long it takes to sterilize water IRL. It might be too long though. It was definitely too short I feel before. Turn on an oven for like 10 seconds and purified water by the gallons

Do you have to sterilize tainted water before you give it to an animal? They drink the rainwater that fills their outdoor troughs and that's tainted.

No idea so its a guess to me. They prob would drink it still if you pour it in. Just a pain to juggle mass boiling pots for my health though while doing so

IRL Once water boils for a few minutes it is sterile. And having water on the boil for hours would simply evaporate the water from the cooking pot and you would have nothing left.

It would seem to me the mechanic is in desperate need of fixing.

im pretty impatient so the water dispensers are the best for filling up the troughs for me personally , i used unsterilized water for them and so far no problems. I noticed i found myself either living by a lake or well if i plan on housing animals. There is no way im hauling water for them lol

I'm glad it doesn't reflect IRL with evaporating but its such a wild nerf for such small containers too

i've found that buckets won't fully purify if they're completely full
edenwylie Dec 22, 2024 @ 2:44am
imagine how i feel. i chose fear of blood.

*facepalm*

the new build won't allow me to wash self or clothes in tainted water and i can't connect a sink, so i have to travel from the storage facility to the motel in order to get a limited supply of washing water, or else always leave time to find a bath before returning.

never picking that one again.
