Mod Removal and Dev Retaliation
Hey everyone,

So here’s what’s going on: my mod, B42 Multiplayer Enabled, was removed from the Steam Workshop with zero explanation just a vague claim of violating the Community & Content Guidelines.

I’ve been actively working on restoring the game’s online functionality on build 42, My mod was attempting to fill the gap they left, trying to get the multiplayer experience working again, and instead of acknowledging the effort, they pull my mod down with no justification.

Steam support has been helpful, but the devs just continue to dodge any real communication. It’s incredibly frustrating when we get punished for trying to improve things, while the devs sit on their hands. If you’re going to remove content, at least have the decency to explain why, instead of hiding behind vague excuses.

Has anyone else had similar issues with these devs? I’m hoping to get this resolved and make sure this kind of petty behavior doesn't continue.

We banned your mod, because it was nonfunctional, only adding 'MP' to the menu, and throwing exceptions when clicked. QA flagged it.

As I mentioned in the email, a nonfunctional mod should have been developed under private, or unlisted, and not released in a nonfunctional state.

Additionally, neither QA, nor the community team were aware of your negative review when initiating the ban.

Finally, please don't reach to legal and community threats when emailing and messaging developers. Just talk to us like humans, we're people, we're really not out to get you, you don't need to come at us full guns blazing

"Sitting on their hands?" This game is literally how they make their living, who the F are you to act so entitled, as if they're lazy? Maybe they don't want to talk to an entitled disrespectful twerp like you.

it may have something to do with security related issues but honetly this is the first time i hear that a dev team has deleted a mp mod :slugcatsleep:

First, you are enabling something that was disabled by the developers themselves, because that's how it was every time a new build came out. It's logical that they delete it because you're not improving anything, you're enabling something that isn't yet ready to be used. I think you didn't read the workshop rules well.

dev already responded and that wasn't the reason, don't put policies in their mouths

Yeah mate I'd recommend holding off on trying to wrench multiplayer into B42 in its current phase. Even if you get it 'working' it is likely going to have a boatload of problems that the devs are not trying to focus on at the moment. Speaking from experience working with other dev teams, regular players don't often understand the difference between a bug caused by a game being a work-in-progress and a bug caused by a mod, so a mod like this is practically guaranteed to flood the devs with bug reports that is outside the scope of what they are trying to test in B42 unstable. Of course you can try to ask players who use your mod not to do that, but that is not going to work. Murphy's law is a terribly unforgiving mistress and bug reports are no exception. Props to Kirrus for dropping by as well.

Sorry, I don't put politics in anyone's mouth, there are supposed to be rules that must be respected. And secondly, you are nobody to come here to silence people. Idiot.
Show me the rule that says you're not allowed to add features the developers disabled.

Hello Project Zomboid Team,

Thank you for your reply. However, I must clarify that the mod description explicitly stated it was intended to restore multiplayer menu options, with no guarantees of functionality or stability. The mod was not yet presented as a fully working multiplayer solution, which is why the description made it clear that users should expect errors and instability.

Your assessment of the mod being "nonfunctional" seems to overlook this transparency. The mod was not yet able to fully enable multiplayer; it simply restored menu functionality, as described. Therefore, it was not deceptive or malicious, and I believe the removal was an overreaction.

I also want to clarify that I wasn’t "coming at you full guns blazing." My intent was to assert my rights and seek clarity on what I felt was an unjust removal, and I’m sorry if my approach came across as overly confrontational. I am simply asking for the reinstatement of the mod, as the description was clear, and no harm or malicious intent was involved.

I would appreciate it if you could reconsider the removal and reinstate the mod, as it clearly did not violate any of the guidelines.

Thanks for your understanding.

For ethical reasons, if they disabled it, it's for a reason. And besides, it's their game. And it's obvious that you can't read, this is what the dev said: "A non-functional mod should have been developed privately or unlisted, and not published in a non-functional state." But hey, dealing with fools like you is tiring. CIAO

Try to relax, okay?

I received a comunity Guideline stike due to the mod being labeled as "malicious" eventhough it doesn't break any Community Guidelines I've been able to find
