disabling multiplayer damaged the community response.
its obvious that lots of people were hanging out to play zomboid with friends once the new update finally released, ive been waiting with my sibling for abt 2 yrs now for the update and were happy but dissappointed when we loaded up to play and realised multiplayer was disabled, we can understand wanting to simplify the feedback coming in and to take some items off the list of "must do before release" but this was too essential to the enjoyment of the game for some. ive played over 1200 hrs of zomboid and cant be bothered to play another minute solo even if i can catch a cute rat and name him jeramahl.

the other thing i noticed while reading was that mac support was an issue for the devs. it reminded me of 'piratesoftware' and his approach to game dev. he removed mac support for his games because of all the extra cost and effort it took only amounted to 0.2% of total sales. not my place to say remove this or that, but i thought id throw it out there as im very saddened to see multiplayer disabled

B41 didn't have MP on the initial test release either. It's a matter of stability and playability more than anything else, given the major updates bring massive overhauls to core systems.

It makes sense there's no multiplayer. Just be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I've seen more people complaining about muscle strain and the changes to gunplay. I don't think I've seen anyone complain about not being able to play 42 in multiplayer. It is in unstable after all. The update technically isn't out.

Op dont know what is the UNSTABLE version

Even if multi-player worked, aiming guns near another person would be extremely dangerous. Bullets seem to fly in random directions now.

Its not functional, they did not choose to take it from you. Net-code is tough stuff and happens after the main content. Your complaint is really juvenile.

yall be acting like im an idiot coz i had an opinion. i think multiplayer is a fair request given my context. not that im asking the devs to do anything for me specifically just that this is my experience and i wont be playing until mp. so go ♥♥♥♥ urselves

You are not an idiot for having an opinion. The devs did state that multiplayer would not be available in the initial build 42, so you knew that coming in.

Multiplayer adds a whole load of extra bugs that need to be dealt with in singleplayer first.

In what build is there MP? Because the store page has it listed as having many MP options.

After seeing some of the issues regarding animals repopulating at a pace it drops your fps to 2 and literally have to login to debug to remove them there is no way this is ready for multiplayer. Not to mention crafting isnt even in a stable state, water is wip, batteries have issues. There are so many small things that people playing multiplayer would just get irritated with that need to be fixed or in a more stable state before mp can even be thought of.

41 multiplayer is already buggy, i couldnt imagine build 42 right now, XD.

It needs more time in the oven

You can play build 42 in multiplayer YES! You heard that right. Up to 4 players split-screen whether it be using remote play or just local coop. To do it one person needs a controller and needs load into a single-player world. Not exactly sure if this is how you do it but I believe you need to hold a and x on your controller then at the top left you can add a character. (Recommend looking on youtube).

Yeah I felt the exact same. Steam forum people don't understand not everyone follows game dev cycles for fun. I just heard that update 42 dropped and saw loads of hype online. Went to play and couldn't play multiplayer.

I get it, game dev is hard. But PZ is extremely slow, slower than most games. Feels a bit like getting half way to the finish line and celebrating. Big deal for PZ super fans who can sink hundreds of hours into a solo game, it's just disappointing to online players.

Is there even an official release date for version 42 yet?

The DEFAULT build, that you don't have to go out of your way to opt into. The one you get by just installing the game on steam and pressing play.

If you choose to go out of your way to opt into an unstable beta as a tester, you really can't complain that it's an unstable beta only out for testing.

Install, press play, and you can use the in-game join list to find a public server to play on, you can host your on game and invite friends, you can use a third party hosting service to host a game world that stays live even when you're not on but is just as custom as your locally hosted one, and you can use steam remote play together for split screen/local coop play. There ARE lots of multiplayer options, unless you go out of your way to avoid them.

Right ok, so the up to date stable build still has it? That's great. I just wanted to check since I was telling my friends to get it on sale and play with me.
