How to clean cloth/denim/leather strips in B42?
I must be dumb because I can't figure it out. There's no option at a sink. No option with a bottle of water. I can sterilize an already clean rag using alcohol, but I can't seem to make a dirty rag clean.

I did notice that you can't directly clean rags at a sink anymore, you have to have a container with a suitable amount of water in your inventory to do it. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a deliberate change, though. I sorta hope it's a bug, just feels like unnecessary extra inventory management to clean rags now - especially if you have a lot of rags.

Same issue here, either a bug or I'm missing something.

A lot of crafting and other things with static objects are buggy. :bummer:

To clean fabrics, you can do so with a full bottle of water in your inventory and dirty fabrics, literally in the craft menu. ( note, I didn't think to check if a table was needed)

I noticed that regular bottles have a capacity of 1000 ml, while plastic bottles, which are usually found in the form of juices or the like. So, it was not possible to wash rags with a 1000 ml bottle, but for some reason it was possible with 2000 ml.

You cannot clean rags or badages at sinks. It is broken ATM. You have to use water in your inventory. I recommend finding a bucket since they hold 10L of water. Devs have been aware since before B42 was even released. Also, sinks cannot be plumbed to water barrels, that is being worked on as well.

If you can do it with a bottle of water, but not at a sink, then I would be shocked if it isn't a bug :/

They changed the whole liquid system, but the plumbing system that's supposed to come with it is not yet implemented. Read the devlogs maybe?

Well it's called unstable for a reason XD
They overhauled almost the half of all the mechanics in the game, expect stuff to not work properly for a few patches.

Pretty much all broken/bugged interactions are directly tied to new liquid/crafting/building systems. All the logical chains for them has to be rerouted and adapted to those system for all the items.

Pretty common in game design, hell, in software design in general. You change something that's seemingly unrelated and a chain of logic breaks something down the line.

To OP: Don't know if its a bug or intentional. But there is a mod that restores the function that you can use in the meantime.
Just use the washing machines.

Pro tip: they work even better after water shutoff! :steamhappy:
