Mod the game for infinite traits if you wanna be a cheater.
If you wanna go legit, pick a profession that suits you playstyle, and unless you really need to, don't pick any traits. Nonetheless, the negative traits that I use most are all thumbs, disorganized, hearty appetite, and thirsty. This usually gives me enough points to get handy, and one other trait. Great build if you wanna be a carpenter. Just be sure to stick near recourse rich areas like downtown westpoint. Which IMO is the best area if you can keep on your toes. Try a second story apartment.

dont use disorganized it lowers the space of every container in the game better to get organized
ps whatever you get always take lucky :-)

I generally take Strong and Lucky for positives, occasionally with Organized. Negatives are whatever i feel suits the character. Hearty Appetite and Thirsty aren't bad negatives to take.

I chose "Veteran" so my character doesnt panic and "Lucky" for incrased loot. After these two its up to you to balance it with flaws that are the least problematic for you

As for the tips... expect the worst in every situation you will find yourself in and plan every step as well as alternatives

Makes sense to choose Lucky since you are the only who survived the initial mass infection =)

My favorite negative traits to take are High Thirst, Hemophobic, Weak Stomach, and Slow Reader. High thirst is easily manageable, and rarely noticable if you have some water bottles on you at all times. Hemophobic because the extreme panic it causes does not really affect anything besides reloading and aiming with guns which is easily remedied by some beta blockers which any gun fanatic in zomboid know are a must whenever you use guns, the only way you're going to get killed by Hemophobic is if you perform first aid on yourself within close proximity of zombies. Weak Stomach is some free points because lets be real, how often is anyone eating spoiled food in project zomboid? It's just a dumb idea to whether you have the trait or not.. so hey free points! And Slow reader to finish off because you can still read skill books, just takes about one day in game. Hit the fast forward button and go take a restroom break.

Now for positive traits. Combined with the above negatives, choosing carpenter I get about 16 free points to spend on the good stuff. Lucky is basically a must for me, from the obvious benefit of increased loot, to even better stuff like low risk of bites and cutting yourself on broken windows if im too lazy or in a rush to clear the broken glass first. (Test build feature only at the moment.) Next on my go to list is Outdoorsman, because ♥♥♥♥ rain am I right? I've recently taken a liking to Dextrous, as it makes pretty much any inventory related action just all that much faster. To finish it all off I get Handy for the +1 Carpentry bonus, letting me start off with 4 carpentry right off the bat making rain collector barrels available and also granting me +1 Maintenance for both blunt and bladed weapons.

I currently can not find a build better than this to my liking yet. You may not find it suitable but its worth a try. :zhand:

Yup. I feel like they should fix panic. Because really in walking dead the more zombies they killed the less they feel scared by them... Maybe after like 40/50 zombies your char wouldnt panic that much. Maybe only when he sees a horde or when he gets attacked from behind

Perhaps, as you kill more zombies, you gain the Desensitized perk? Or maybe you get Brave first, THEN Desensitized?

That'd be an awesome feature.

Yup id appriciate a feature where traits would develop troughout the game as well :) For example you will drink plenty of alcohol (I actually did that to lower the pain when i was wounded) you will develop alcoholic trait... Your character will require drinking more alcohol... you could get rid of this trait by not drinking but this would for example incrase your boredom and stress :happy_creep:
