Project Zomboid

zombie-proof walls
So far I've tested the log walls and it seems zombies ignore them now.
Has anyone tested the other types if they get destroyed? (planks, bricks, stones)
The build menu doesn't give any info on the topic.

I can confirm that regular wood walls built at carpentry level 5 & 6 get attacked by zeds and destroyed, as do double-wide gates that vehicles can drive through.
I see, thanks for confirming :)
Wooden walls are easiest to build in bulk out of all the options so I guess it makes sense.

I've actually forgotten for a moment there're also metal walls.
Since they're welded they should be pretty sturdy.
Do zeds still attack them?
Zombies generally only get caught up on windows and doors. They tend to leave walls alone. That said all walls are subject to fire with the exception of wire fences. Pole fences, brick walls, log walls, etc. all go up in flames. Wire ones do not.
In b41 you build a wall, row of crates, fence. Or just disable structural damage in sandbox.

Metal walls are not good either, difference between metal and wooden wall is only 220 HP (1070 vs 850).
They don't ignore log walls from what I've seen. They just simply path to something weaker. If you surround yourself with just log walls, they will still attack the walls if they detect you.

So they got smarter then.
My last character died before he could finish the log wall.
The section he built never got attacked, so I assumed they just don't.
I wonder if it's the same for brick and stone walls.
If I remember correctly these were supposed to be indestructible going by one of the dev blog posts.

They should be what with the hassle of building them. In fact anyone who has done stone walls are they indestructible or no?

I've tested in debug mode with walls of all levels as wall levels do impact it for what item is generated and health. They are smarter now and will go after the weaker walls. but log walls are bugged. They physically can't attack log walls.

Figured out the reason why they are impossible to hit. The log walls are generated with 3 tiles so it is entity jamming essentially. The zombies can't hit them because there are too many wall copies on the tile for them to interact with them.
A portion of my base has metal fencing (not innate, made by me with Welding), some of it is Sheet Metal Walls and some of it is Big Wire Fence. I just built it out of whatever I could get my hands on, one tile at a time.

Anyway... point is, when zombies come from that side, I notice they only attack the Sheet Metal Walls and never the Big Wire Fence.

<shrug>

I just thought that was interesting.

So I did a little test of my own in debug mode.
For this I've build little 4x4 cells around zombies to see, if they try to break out.
Tested walls: logs, bricks, stone.
When I shouted the zeds inside the log walls cell remained docile while the zeds inside the brick and stone wall cells were thumping.
The walls also slowly took damage even from single zombies.
No difference between basic and craftsman walls besides the craftsman version having a bigger HP pool.

I've skipped planks and metal walls since the build menu wouldn't let me force build them.
They're probably behaving similarly to brick and stone walls.

I do hope the walls eventually become indestructible to zeds at some point.
If you put in the effort to build the strong stuff you should be rewarded for it.

I dont think they have implemented them being able to tear down the wire fences yet. I recall a thursdoid where they said they wanted a certain mass of zombies to be able to do so, but i dont think its in game. I've been basing out of an area with a fence as the main barrier on one side and they dont even try anything on it. Or havent so far, i guess.
