Realistically apparently mouse reach puberty in one month, so if any of them are growing I'd expect them to grow first. My piglets are 3.5 months old, but apparently real pigs need 6 months so I'll wait some more.
No guarantee that the growing age is set realistically, but looking at how many plants take 240 days to grow in the game I wouldn't be a surprise if animals take a realistically long time to grow too. I just hope it's not bugged and I'm waiting for nothing.
Rabbits should be 4 months to grow up, then another 2 months for max size
Chicks 18 weeks to grow up, then 12 months to reach max size
Mice are 2 and 2 months
There is the possibility whatever manages the growth process doesnt work, according to the parameter descriptions in the files The encumbrance when picking up an animal is product of its baseEncumbrance and its current size, so you could rename a specific small animal, pick it up and note its Encumbrance, then check later if it increased.
We as players have got to stop letting developers treat us like our time has no value , this games devs seem out of touch with reality right now where it comes to enjoyable game design.
I'm sure, as with other issues that have been spoken about at length since B42 unstable was launched, timings and balancing will be addressed. All you have to do is feed it back. That's all they want from you at this point, because...drum-roll-please! We're testing it. Devs are literally asking us to spend our time, to TEST. So for you to say they don't consider our time valuable, is incredibly disingenuous.
Every minute and hour we pour into this version, is helping them to identify problems. Thats priceless to a small dev, to any dev!
126 hours for a single chicken isnt testing , the game is boring like watching paint dry past 30-45 days of play. You dont need people to test it to know these amount of hours required to get to the end result is an absurdity.
12 months to a grown boar is 364 hours , on unstable to see one Boar grow up . These numbers are nonsense and a giant middle finger to the people taking the time to test things.
3 % of players play on multiplayer servers , the only place these numbers make sense is on servers you are not playing on a huge amount of the hours as time is passing. This update we waited two years for is for 3 % of players and of that 3 % only a small amount of them will even use the animals.
This update has so many issues with it ( and thats why im here saying this yes its unstable but these are not instability issues these are conscious decisions the devs made about time played versus end reward) specifically on the two major things they changed crafting and animals and it took almost two years for this broken nonsense.
These guys need a project manager or someone to put them back into reality because what they have released here ( outside of the amazing map changes) once you actually delve into it and attempt to play the game with it is broken and pokes its fingers in the eye of the players taking the time to try and use these changes.
Because you havent tested it or used it , if you play with two hour days there hasnt even been enough time since B42s last update released for you to grow a chicken let alone a boar , ok barely a chicken if you FF time constantly.
I mean you dont have an issue because you havent engaged with the mechanic or dont care which is fine but its hardly relevant to the discussion of how broken and pointless the last two years of this devs "work" has been.
Thanks a million! I guess I'll use debug to change the settings because that's a little too long to be honest, especially for the chickens who need daily care (closing them in and then opening the hutch in the morning)
I have my animal farm.
12 days in game is like 5h irl.
beco use I dont need be seeing a black screen for 45minutes while the char sleep, or read, or cooking or craft some thing, os rest in a sofa. 2h day in gale is more like 50 minutes irl
WIth 2 hour game?
Yeah but that is still not 5 hours irl;) Your math is off. (12*50=600=10 hours:P)
(Also i would say your estimation with 50 minutes is on the very optimistic side)
i was not específic enough, my bad.
5h irl is 12 days in the standard 1h day.
is the time I spend cleaning the entrance for louisville checkpoint. aka military base.
But we do need people to play it, otherwise how would we know, the timing is off? No one is dismissing your opinion on the timing, no one is saying your wrong to feel the time required is too slow or too fast. I'm saying, the devs want to hear your thoughts, but with a less accusatory tone and feelings of butt-hurt.
Its an unstable build. Subject to change. And just like the muscle-fatigue and comfort mechanics, I'm sure animal husbandry will be looked at and altered too and even then we'll have the highly tweakable settings to cater it to your own liking, and mods.
Just like... relax. It's really not worth the elevated blood pressure.
Im sorry but the devs could do the simple math of 18 weeks = 126 hours before they ever coded it into the game and realize people will probably be unhappy waiting 126 hours into a play through to get a chicken that will not give enough calories for one day.
Cmon man you guys that make excuses act like these devs are children and not adults , they are capable of thinking a tiny bit ahead of time and doing the 2nd grade math it requires to figure that out.
Yes people need to test but this was obviously in a horribly bad place without testing these numbers say only one thing the devs do not value or respect player time at all, OR OR OR they dont expect single players to engage with these mechanics. Since 97 % of the player base plays local coop or single player not multiplayer and crafting and animals were the largest parts of the up[date , that means they are either incompetent beyond belief ( see cant do 2nd grade math or think out an end result in a table) or they spent two years on an update that is not meant for 97 % of the community,
Both those possible results deserve heavy criticism.
