Should I metal sheet reinforce an old baseball bat or a new one?

Does durability carry over to the newly crafted item based on the durability remaining on my old baseball bat, or will it just start at full durability regardless of the component baseball bat's remaining durability.

I really don't want to spend a bunch of resources to craft a reinforced baseball bat that will have two hits in it.

I ended up doing a save backup and tested it. You want to use a fresh baseball bat because it DOES carry over the damage to the component baseball bat.

So if you make a reinforced bat with a nearly broken baseball bat, you'll get a nearly broken reinforced bat.
