Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Sisyphus of the West Maple Country Club
Heading out of Riverside I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of zombies on the road. Sure, they have nerfed virtually everything that made melee combat enjoyable, but at least now you have fewer zombies to contend with, I thought to myself.

After making a quick stop at a nearby factory. Mesmerised by a brochure I found earlier I would make a decision that would seal my fate. I was going to base at the West Maple Country Club.

It took me multiple days of sleeping inside a van just to get past the ramps of the guardhouse. The two crowbars I found before, once shining examples of durability, lied destroyed by the time I cleared the housing area. It was my belief that now, with an actual bed, clearing the remainder of the country club would go swimmingly. After all I had done it before in B41 and had no recollection of it being difficult nor taking longer than a day or two.

It's been two weeks, and I have yet to step foot inside the main building. I think, I have honestly started to lose track of the time. Each day my character wakes up at around 6 o'clock, commutes along the road between the house and the parking lot and heads to the front of the main building to crush the skulls of the undead. Gets tired at around 18 o'clock with high exertion, pain, tiredness, hunger, thirst and muscle strain, making him unable to tackle a single zombie let alone the fifteen that then proceed exit the building probably trying to repopulate the area in front of the building that my character has cleared. Each day my character gets close enough that he is able to see his reflection in the shattered glass of the entrance, only to be forced to retreat back to his safe house so he may rest to repeat the cycle the next morning.

After breaking multiple hatchets, knives and hammers, my character has been reduced to using branches and planks he got when barricading his safe house.
What little high calorie food I had has long run out, my character that was once "hIgH mAsS" is now underweight from sustaining himself off of jarred vegetables and an occasional rabbit he manages to smash with a 4x4 on his daily commute to the country house.
Enough corpses litter the entrance that my character has started developing a fever by just approaching the country house.

There is no reward,
from the few glimpses I had of the inside, majority of the doors have been broken and windows shattered. And that is without me even stepping foot inside, what I'm going to be left with is a massive building shrouded in darkness, covered in so much blood, viscera and corpses that my guy would have to wear a biohazard suit just to get near it. And as far as I can see there is literally no good loot to be found inside.

I did however find two rolexes.

What was supposed to be a quick stop to set up a storage depot for all the new loot added in the new build, has ended as the least enjoyable, most repetative cycle of exhaustion due to all of the nerfs that the player has received.

With Str10 End9 melee combat is VERY enjoyable. I am doing a x5 global XP run with long blade, and oh boy, it is fun.

Now I Am Become Death, the Destroyer of Zeds.
One must imagine Sisyphus happy.
After all, it doesnt matter in the end. This is how you died.
