how can i make a cow or a ram move to my entrenched safehouse? it seems i can pick up chickens, is there a similar function for bigger farm animals? having a few cows at home sounds nice

Get a rope and right-click.
there are also animal trailers that you can load them in and move I found 1 with a bull already in it on my playthrough

And careful with those trailers. You'll mostly find wrecked ones with bad shocks that tip very easily.

I must admit that I only worked this out today (although I had just been killing the farm animals I found to stock up the freezer). When you are standing at the back of an animal trailer press V to get the context menu up for loading them into it.

Amusingly I had a load of piglets running around near my base and I wondered where they had come from and then I had a look in the back of a nearby animal trailer and found their dead parents.
Remember to milk the ones WITHOUT the horns and you're good to go.

Yeah, I figured out about the context menu opening the animal slots by accident the other day. Which would probably explain why I would hear various animals when I found and opened trailers but only saw feed in them. I've now made a habit of checking all the trailers and if they have animals in them, I'll set them free!
