Batteries! Why!
So, I'm noticing an ongoing bug that never really gets rectified is battery charge % on quitting and loading. It's pretty gamebreaking for the batteries to all drain to nothing (including car batteries) every time I quit and start my game back up. It's, like, doom. If the cars all go dead and the batteries are all dead then only propane lamps etc are viable and those are finite in resources.

Any ETA on a fix for this? Been going on... pretty long time.

didnt they just fix it with the latest update?

Nope. They fixed propane tank, but batteries are still screwed.

Converted save, no mods for batteries. I have a box of batteries in the storage will see if those got fixed.

i havent had this issue are you playing with any mods? and are you on a new save?
- Fixed drainable items losing uses after saving and loading.
from patchnote
Any batteries in your current save are likely still broke. Any batteries that have not spawned in might be ok and use new code. No guarantees.

The Indie Stone recommends to start a new save for build 42.1

As likely all the way through the life of unstable patches: new saves always the go to best idea after a 42 unstable patch release. Expect this as normal procedure. Sad but true.
New realism feature, the second you need to use your flashlight, the batteries will always be dead no matter how fresh.

It is for game purposes, otherwise the game would be too easy and nobody would want to play it.

This was also stated on those mod pages too.

Yea, unless you are seeing this on a fresh world, its not an issue.

Who reads mods descriptions or patch notes in a zombie apocalypse?
NOT ME. Nobody got time for that nonsense.
Install based on title or thumbnail and go go go is my motto.

Thank yall for the replies and it appears they did in fact fix it! Praise to the zomboid dev gods!

But also bummer. Because to enjoy that I have to start a new save merp
You don't need a new save, just freshly spawned batteries.
