I don't think we can do that. But maybe you can melt the head to get the iron then create a new one. I haven't tried so please do not take my words seriously. You can test it first via debug

i dont think anyone has experience with the new skills outside of debug mode considering how niche they are/little they contribute to a normal playthough.

Got question about forging. Do you need to find schematics to produce for example a short sword even if you already read the magazine required for it? Cause i ran into this problem where I can't craft a sword blade cause it say's there's a missing magazine or something that i need before crafting the said item

I did find one for a short sword and something else I can't remember. Oddly enough, I found it in the kitchen.
