I know build 42 is unstable, but has anyone had problems with planting crops?
So far I can't plant anything. Just wondering.

Planting works as it always did. Dig a furrow and sow the seeds. If thats not working for you it might be some mod conflict.

Obviously theres a lot more crops now and they have their own growing seasons (you can read the seed packets to discover best months to sow) and it sounds like there are some issues with the growing mechanics which are making crops fail pretty much all the time. Certainly when I tried planting some crops (in the correct months) they just died despite being watered and fertilised.

There is a bug which assigns "cursed" to all plants if you have seasons enabled. Disable seasons in sandbox, that will make plants like in b41.

Ouch. Seems a pretty major issue considering the majority of the B42 additions were based around improving the end game (with all the new crafting and farming etc). Being unable to actually grow crops would make that long game pretty tricky.

Anyway, good to know. Hopefully they will fix this soon.
Thanks guys. I try these out and hopefully get something going.

I just tried something, it wont allow to get dirt in a sack then put a patch of dirt on the garage yard floor (the garage with the outside enclosure in Echo Creek) Haven't tried planting inside., I guess it won't work. Or its working differently than b41?
