Farming B42
Hello.

I have read one or two thing about farming, more on that it is not exactly working out for people, crops dying on their own and so on. And most of the time, it is not related to planting crops during wrong season, crops just die, despite having water.

Is that the case? I'm playing un-modded game and reached the point when I should start growing my own food, but would not like to waste the few seeds I've managed to gather.

Saw a mod that said something about all crops that are planted are marked with a "cursed" flag, meaning that they'll all die. Not sure if this is true, but it certainly sounds like it.

try using fertilizer and see if it helps

Even if they were working, it seems a bit much for 90% of the crops to be a "bad month for planting" in July which is the default starting month? I've played a lot of Zomboid, but it's incredibly rare that I survive around 8~ months, which is what you would have to do to make it to spring, to even begin planting in season!
im playng on a steamdeck and farming is impossible. the devs said something about controller support not working yet so i just chalk it up to that.
Thank you all for the answers. Stevasaur gave the best one I think. Smells much like a coding-side problem indeed.

Is there any idea when an update to fix this would be coming along?
its skill based guys... 0 skill not very much makes it.... 10 skill.. almost everything makes it... you need to be looking for for a few books and some already planted crops and such for that early game skill boost before you start planting... or find ya a whole bunch of a certain kinda seed like wheat and plant em all (you put the seed in the ground your skill is checked) every thing is harder now lol
