Project Zomboid

All my chickens have vanished.
I am unsure if this is a bug but the last time I played, they were there. Now they are not. It is about winter time and I dont close the hatch for them to roam free. But they are gated, and when they are attacked, there is usually a body. 6 chickens just vanished into the ether. Am i missing a mechanic or is this a bug?

Might be the hidden predator mechanic? I'm having the exact same issue but I have that option turned off and it is still happening. There is no trace of them, apparently if you close the hutch at night it keeps them safe from the predator.
Check the hutch they might be in there. Also, they do go inside at night until morning and I think if you click up on the zone thingy they wont show up as there. I had many times I thought my critters were gone. Unless you have predator event on. Depends on what time of day is what Im trying to say

This just happened to me. Fenced in area too. I leave the hutch open as well so they can roam, and since everything is fenced in I figured that way ok. ALL of my chickens were gone when I came back from a 1.5 day trip to Louisville. I checked both hutches and nothing was in there. I also checked around my house and still nothing. I have a cow and 2 sheep in a separate fenced in area across from the chicken enclosure and they are fine. It was only my chickens. No sign of deaths either. Yes, i set livestock area, they were also fenced in so I dk.

They had plenty of food and water. I always cleaned the area of dung too. I think it’s a bug. I had like 10 chickens. One of them was a rooster and 2 or 3 were chicks:Hearthian_Cry:

did you set the area for your livestock? first time I try to get animals I thought with a fence would be enough but you have to set an area for your livestock where they will stay when calm...(they will run away and wander off when there are zombies near or starving/dehydrated)

This has happened to me multiple times, no I dont have predator event on, no they weren't chased off, they were fenced in and had plenty of food / water and no threats whatsoever.

There is definately a bug going on with chickens, needs to be fixed.

This happened to me with my turkeys just now, I also don't have meta predator activated, it's definitely a bug. Report.
was in 42.1 patch notes as chikenpocalypse
