Vehicle Brakes have always been bad
Even if your vehicle is brand spanking new the brakes have slow stopping power. Is there any way this can be fixed? Without mods.

lower your tire pressure in all 4 tires to 5. the car will accelerate slower but it will handle/stop better.

but I think you are right, since you can't see very far ahead of your car when driving you need to have better brakes
Thanks
I had other vehicle questions and just remembered one.
How many other ways can your vehicle get worn down besides crashing into objects like zombies?
Like those small young trees that you can drive over but they slow you down, do they cause engine damage?

Some components (muffler, suspension, tires) has small chance to lose 1 durability just from the drive. Tires also lose air.

The chance to degrade is much higher off-road and depend on quality. Like base chance
Old tire
ConditionLowerStandard = 0.04,
ConditionLowerOffroad = 0.5,
Perf tire
ConditionLowerStandard = 0.02,
ConditionLowerOffroad = 0.35,

Different vehicles also has some offroad modifier, it also impacts condition loss.
And also multiplier applied depending on speed and steering.

Muffler can also be damaged by a rear strike.
Engine cannot be damaged as long as hood is intact enough (35% maybe).
Tires degrade significantly from driving over alive zeds, corpses has no effect in 41.
It seems the brakes can lose condition from braking, depending on speed.

If you wonder what is offroad - anything but town pavements, gravel and wooden floor. Metal floor or sand is offroad.

Feel free to find (unmodded) youtube or files proving otherwise.

yes if you drive offroad fast like over 50 mph with a vehicle that's not made for offroad you can damage the gas tank and trunk and suspension. driving over small trees slows you down but won't damage the vehicle. currently there is a glitch in b42 where if you have 2 engine parts in your bag and a wrench in your hand you can repair the engine infinitely so the engine condition is not such a big deal. but if you damage the condition low enough to where you damage the engine QUALITY there is nothing you can do to fix it. engine quality dictates the chance for the engine to start if it reaches 0 the engine will never start again. whereas engine condition dictates the chance for the engine to stall. you might have noticed that if you take a crashed car you find on the road it will start up every time but it will stall quickly. that's because wrecked emergency vehicles usually always have between 90 and 100 engine quality but low engine condition.

Quality also dictates driving power and fuel consumption (though no idea if it works as intended). I think working engine has no chance to stall over 60% condition.
And low temp can have a debuff on engine starting.
Damaging tank offroad could be coded or just because wonky physics.

The files says the modifier on gas consumption is 1 + (100 - X) / 200
-- if quality is 60, we do: 100 - 60 = 40; 40/2 = 20; 20/100=0.2; 0.2+1 = 1.2 : our multiplier;

And for power 62 or more quality is max power while 38 or less have 0.6 modifier. In between (38 to 62 quality) modifier is X * 1.6 / 100 .

Going over 60 M/H will take time to stop the car to a stand still, Beside the game is not real life.

Different game vehicles also has different coefficients. Braking power, max speed, suspension damping...
E.g. police nyala can be driven much faster than the mail van. Even more noticeable in single, because MP has a default 70% speed limit on all cars.
Also, there is "Pan camera while driving" in settings. It's kind of strange to play like that at first but once you get used to it, it helps you avoid a lot of crashes when you're driving like you're asking for a post-apocalyptic speed ticket.

I prefer to pan manually. You can do ii only if the window is opened though.
But in that case you can also shoot. Losing control if aiming 2H or reloading.

Don't do it in 42. Tires lose the pressure when driving now, unlike 41. E.g. West point to Muldraugh trip can spend more than 5.

Was gonna say……5lbs seems insanely low. I always inflate all my tires to max 30 or 35, whatever the cap is.

From what I noticed, under inflation does greatly hinder coasting and towing. Once my car began to stopping immediately as soon as I released the W button (I use coasting alot). Later realized, forgot to inflate new tires.

yeah for real life. but in the game it makes it to where when you let off the throttle your vehicle will slow down faster if the tire pressure drops too low the tire will just fall off and you put it back on and pump it up... not a big deal it doesn't damage anything.

Did the Zombie help you to put it back on?
Alex Jan 5 @ 10:08am
That being said, chance to fall off does use same ConditionLower multiplier and can trigger on inflation less than 5 or condition less than 15.
I used to do multiple trips wp-loui on 5% tires. And then suddenly lost two in row :)
BTW, not sure in 42, but in 41 you can still drive on two rear wheels. It just much slower and harder to turn.

Yes I noticed my truck slowing down too quickly and assumed there was something wrong with tires. Tires were 90% Pressure was very low. I went to pump one tire up and the pump suddenly disappeared from my hands and inventory.
